Kotagede is also known as the old capital city, as it is the birthplace of the Mataram Islam Kingdom. You can purchase silver souvenirs or simply stroll around and admire the architecture.
Kotagede Mosque - In Kotagede, you’ll find the Mataram Grand Mosque, one of Yogyakarta’s oldest mosques. It resembles a temple from the outside, but inside, you’ll discover impressive Joglo architecture.
Silver Mosque - Another unique site in Kotagede is the Silver Mosque, built with contributions from local silver artists and merchants. This beautiful mosque features Mediterranean-style architecture. After exploring Kotagede, you’ll be driven to your hotel for check-in and rest, preparing for the next day’s adventures.
Jogjakarta - Dieng Plateau
Magelang - On the second day, you’ll embark on a tour to Dieng Plateau, departing early due to the lengthy journey. The drive takes you through Magelang and Temanggung, offering stunning views of the ocean and tobacco plantations. You’ll pass through the picturesque Sumbing Valley.
Arjuna Temple - In Dieng Plateau, visit Java’s oldest Hindu temple. For thrill-seekers, there are active volcano craters to explore.
Sikidang Crater - Dieng Plateau boasts several beautiful craters, including Sikidang, Candradimuka, and Sileri Craters. These active craters require caution. Sikidang Crater is surrounded by green hills and limestone soil, while Sileri Crater is one of the largest and can be reached by a 7 km walk from the main area. Candradimuka Crater is known for its legendary tales.
Telaga Warna - Visit Telaga Warna, one of Dieng Plateau’s most iconic spots. The lake’s name means “Colorful Lake” due to its varying hues of green, ocean blue, and yellowish white. For the best view, hike the surrounding hill to a balcony overlooking the lake. Afterward, you’ll return to your hotel to rest for the next day.
Borobudur Temple and Keraton Palace
Borobudur Temple - After breakfast at your hotel, you’ll visit the majestic Borobudur Temple, one of Indonesia’s most historic and renowned temples. Marvel at its magnificent architecture and explore its intricate reliefs and relics. Recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage site, Borobudur offers a rich cultural and historical experience. Nearby, the Karmawibangga Museum provides further insights into the temple’s history, with around 4,000 temple stones, including reliefs and carved decorations.
Candi Mendut (Temple) - Continue your tour with visits to smaller temples, such as Pawon and Mendut Temples.
