• 777 Spice Garden - Discover Sri Lanka’s famous spices right at their source. • Tsunami Photo Museum - December 26, 2004, was a tragic day for Sri Lanka due to the tsunami that struck the southern province. This museum houses photos of the disaster, which you can view while traveling to Galle. Warning: If you are easily scared or traumatized, you may want to avoid this museum. Nearby, you can also visit the Tsunami Memorial.
• Tsunami Honganji Vihara - Located on the coast north of Hikkaduwa, this statue of a standing Buddha faces the waves with hands in the abhaya mudra (a pose symbolizing fearlessness and protection). The statue is a replica of Afghanistan’s Bamiyan Buddha, destroyed by the Taliban in 2001.
• Galle Fort - After lunch, visit the ancient Galle Fort, built by the Portuguese in 1588 when Sri Lanka was a Portuguese colony. The fort is home to many historical artifacts and is a prominent landmark in Galle city. You can also see the clock tower, bastions, Galle Natural Harbour, lighthouse, Dutch Church, and more. Afterward, we will drive you back to your hotel.
