Additional Information

This biking excursion is a top-rated Mountain Bike journey in the northern part of Iceland. The adventure starts in the evening when you mount your bike and start exploring. During your ride, you’ll pause at a local ‘underground bakery’, known for its famed Geysir bread. Your journey then leads you past Iceland’s first steam generator and takes you to an old steam bath, and then to ancient bathing caves near Grjótagjá cave. Once you’re done exploring the cave, you’ll visit the Mývatn Nature Baths for an hour of leisure in the warm waters and natural steam baths. When you’re rested and re-energized, you’ll get back on your bike to return.

Either bring your own bathing suit and towel, or hire them from the Mývatn Nature Baths. The majority of the cycling part of this trip is on a gravel road. Though there are a few small elevations, it is generally a comfortable journey. There will be several stops for you to capture memorable moments and appreciate the beautiful landscape.

Awesome - The weather was horrible so the tour guide took us around the village and to many points of interest by car. It was just my daughter and I and we felt like a private tour!! Elizabeth our guide was so knowledgeable and nice!! The spa was great!! Thanks

Fantastic Bike Tour - My husband and I had a wonderful evening of cycling around the local area and visiting the Myvatn Nature Baths in September 2022. Ragnar was a wonderful tour guide, with loads of local knowledge and as we were the only people on the tour, was very flexible about timings at the baths. We were treated to a wonderful sunset from the water with incredible views over the lake. Wonderful memories from our honeymoon in Iceland!

Fantastic evening hike - We left for our hike about 4pm with Elizabeth, our lovely guide. She has lived in the area for most of her life and so is full of interesting information about life out here and also about the local environment. The hike was well judged so that we felt like we'd accomplished something but also still felt relaxing enough to take in the stunning views. She also took us off the main paths to see a range of sights we wouldn't have known existed if we were just following the main tourist paths. The nature baths were the perfect end to our evening and to our travels around Iceland. Thank you Elizabeth for such a wonderful experience!

Great experience - We loved this tour. Elizabeth was wonderful! She was very knowledgeable and explained the area and traditions to us as well as the baths and process there. She also was patient with us when we were at the baths and bike. We never felt rushed. It was one of the highlights of your trip.

Thanks for being so flexible and kind!!! - Well, on the day of our trip, the weather was not cooperative - rainy and freezing temperatures - and members of my family were neither prepared nor excited for the prospect of biking. Ragnar, our guide for the evening, suggested an alternative tour using vehicles. He was an awesome guide and showed us the sights in Reykjahlid - it was an entertaining and informative visit that culminated in some quality time at the nature bath. This was a top-notch experience and a testament to the professionalism, quality, and attitude of the tour company and its leaders. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Myvatn Bike and Hike - Ragnar was an amazing tour guide. He was deeply knowledgable about the area and was a kind tour guide. He showed me a wonderful lava cave and showed me around the Myvatn Nature Baths. I would recommend to take this tour if they happened to be in the area.

Fun trip - "Raggy" is a good fun bloke and very knowlegeable about all things Iceland. His family have been land owners for 200 years. He took us to many normally inaccessible off beat places including the family steam hole where they bake their bread 3 times a week. Great history story, lava tunnels and for me, a geologist, he knows his stuff. After sore knees and two hours riding (I'm 75 years and my other six friends on the ride similar age) Raggy took us into the hot baths , organised the short cuts and had the beers delivered to our hands in the baths. Top experience thanks Raggy and we'll send some more Aussies David
