Nice little zoo - worth a visit - Didn’t actually do a combined ticked but walked from the city centre (30 mins). Nice little zoo, with a wide variety of animals from the region, with many ‘walk through’ areas, aquarium, reptile area, aviaries etc. good play park for younger children at the end. Certainly worth a visit.

Nice zoo but with very steep paths! - I liked the zoo but didn't see ALL the animals because it was A) An extremely hot day and B) because I hadn't prepared my visit properly by reading reviews! I found it very difficult to walk the steep paths in the zoo and I was already tired from walking upwards from the funiculars Alpen zoo stop which was actually NOT by the zoo but a bit further down the mountain! I particularly liked the big male bear who was awake and seemed to be interested in the humans , and then the lynx family was nice to watch! The female lynx had 2 kittens/cubs and they were easily seen and photographed. The male was asleep high up a tree. The wolves were moved to a new enclosure and couldn't be visited for some days until they had settled in. I think it is a nice little zoo to spend some time but do choose a time when it is not so hot!

A nice trip with the family - We visited the Alpine zoo on a Sunday and walked there instead of taking the hunger train. You could also take the bus - cheaper and less crowded than the train, by the way. The zoo is very well laid out and you learn a lot. What I love is that it is mainly animals that are native (more or less). The restaurant is not so taste-wise mine (fries rather floury, pasta warmed up) and this is really the only criticism. It took us about 2 hours to make the suggested circuit.

Nice experience - I liked this zoo, the cages or enclosures are very large and the right setting for each type of animal is faithfully reproduced. We've seen pretty much everything from wolves to bears, ibex to chamois, vultures, martens... Some stretch is uphill due to the location but overall easy to travel. The staff turned, one cleaned the rocks of the ibex, one fed the bear etc. I found the animals very quiet in their reproduced habitats and each species had the right space to move freely. I didn't find it crowded but it was a weekday.

Lovely view. Zoo was ok - The view was terrific. The environment for the animals was subpar and unclean. Very smelly. Many animals appeared in ill health.

Steep Climbs to See The Animals - This is a nice zoo with a decent selection of animals from the region - it was the first time any of us had seen a beaver in real life - and beyond. The enclosures are about the right size - maybe a bit small for the bears - and it is pretty good to look round. It cannot compare to bigger more traditional zoos, but is still worth a look. However, the paths area really - really - steep and it feels like you are climbing a mountain to see many of the animals. On a hot day, it is almost too much. It took away some of the enjoyment.

Stop the massacre!!! - That is clearly not the best aspect of the man who expresses himself here. I am outraged and so uncomfortable to see these animals of the great outdoors imprisoned in tiny enclosures or aviaries. I apologize to all these poor beasts in the name of men. Close this space and release them, especially the little ones who are condemned to a life of ordeal with a nice view of the Alps and what their real life could be. In an age of artificial telelugence, yes could do better than that, right? Get your head out and come up with a super interesting interactive concept, but please, release these poor beasts

Cruelty to animals - Species are different! We felt sorry for the animals, especially the birds! A vulture even flew against the wire and injured itself while we were watching our 3 year old child feeding me. At the sight of the eagles which have no flight possibilities I had to cry. Our conclusion, never again!!!

Absolute fraud - Huge disappointment, complete discontent. Most animals are invisible. Under the pretext that it's an Alpine zoo, you're made to climb steep slopes.

Very disappointing - Very disappointing! Not much to see. Tiny cages, lots of empty cages and animals that we do not see. the zoo does not breathe animal welfare...
