Zagori, meaning ‘the region behind the mountains’, is comprised of 46 lovely villages and multiple stone bridges. The locals have utilized the native stone to construct homes, religious institutions like churches and monasteries, and paved roads. These stone bridges contribute to the architectural integrity of this unique district. We tour a variety of these villages, observe the astonishing views of the Vikos gorge, visit the stone bridges, see natural pools, experience the chilliest river in Europe with an average temperature between 8-12 degrees Celsius, and pay respects at a monument dedicated to the courageous women of the Pindos range.
