Still after years, visitors undertsood that the village was not ugly at alland called it Sirince (Pretty). Situated just 8 km (5 miles) east of Selçuk, close to Ephesus, in the Aegean hinterland south of İzmir (map), Şirince is a charming hill town renowned for its olive oil, fruit wines, natural products, and quaint boutique accommodations.

Numerous small eateries serve day-visitors, patrons from nearby hotels, and local residents alike.

Şirince is filled with natural sounds: chirping birds, braying donkeys, bleating goats, cooing mourning doves, barking dogs, crowing roosters, and playing children. Sometimes, a tractor would roll by.

Despite being played from an old recording, the call to prayer from the lone minaret of the village echoes through the air.

While tourism has made its way to this quaint town, it tends to get crowded during pleasing weekends of warmer months, drawing thousands of local and foreign tourists.

Although weekdays witness fewer visitors, the true essence of Şirince is best experienced in the early hours of the morning and the late hours of the evening, when the day-tourists depart, leaving the village to its tranquil self.
