Iringa-ruaha national park

You will be picked from your Iringa hotel around 6 am, and drive to Ruaha National Park.

Find the park with its highlands forest, miombo woodlands, lowland Savannah with Acacia and mixed woodland; also find vast wetland and plains which are home to an enormous array of water birds.

The park is one of the Tanzania birds’ paradise with more than 571species and some of them are known to be migrants from within and outside Africa.

Ruaha is believed to have high concentration of elephants than any National Park in East Africa. It is also a place where, magnificent mammals like Kudu, Sable and Roan antelopes can easily be spotted in Miombo woodland. The park is also a habitat for endangered wild dogs. Other animals in the park include lions, leopards, cheetah, giraffes, zebras, elands, impala, bat eared foxes and Jackals.

The park offer excellent game viewing experience with buffalo, zebra, giraffe, bushbuck, waterbuck, both greater and lesser kudu, and lots of elephants roaming near the Ruaha great river.

Spot various predators like lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog, hyena, and so much more.

Remote Ruaha is renowned for its pristine wilderness and remarkable elephant population. Excluding rhinoceroses, the park hosts an abundance of all key safari species. The park is home to a substantial lion pride that can boast more than 20 members, and even buffalos, which are not typically common prey, are at risk in this territory.

Positioned at the intersection of East Africa’s acacia savannah and southern Africa’s miombo woodland region, Ruaha boasts a significant variety of avian life. The biodiversity of the avian population is reflected in the park’s impressive roster of 450 bird species. The distinctive crested barbet, known for its incessant trilling, can be observed in Ruaha, as can birds unique to Central Tanzania, like the Yellow-collared lovebird and the ashy starling. Additionally, the park becomes a haven for migratory birds from November to April.
