The uninhabited island “Hamashima” can be reached from Ishigaki Island in about 30 minutes by boat. This island made of sand is also called “Phantom Island” because it disappears at high tide, and is often used as a location for TV shooting and modeling.

Meeting and dismissal times may vary depending on the season and field conditions on the day of the tour. The store will contact you the day before the tour to inform you of the meeting place and time. The tour will be held rain or shine. However, we may cancel the tour if we deem that the field is unsafe.

Please change into clothes that you do not mind getting wet before the tour.

Please use the restroom before coming to the tour. (There are no restrooms near the tour site.)

Please do not participate in the event if you have been drinking.

Please contact us in advance if you will be late.

If you wish to meet at the local meeting point, parking fee (300Yen) will be charged separately.

The island only appears at low tide, and its size changes depending on the tide level. The island is surrounded by an unobstructed 360-degree view of the marine blue ocean. It is the best location!

★Snorkeling in the sea around the island!
The sea around the Phantom Island is called “sekisei lagoon” and is the largest coral reef in Japan designated as Iriomote Ishigaki National Park!

★Free photo data!
Memories of your trip are meant to be preserved. During the tour, the guide will take your pictures with a dedicated waterproof camera and give you the data for free! You don’t have to worry about taking your precious camera to the water!

Location

Near the red mailbox just to the left of the main entrance of Ishigaki Port Terminal. We can pick you up and drop you off at your accommodation (in the southern area of Ishigaki Island) if you make a reservation by 5:00 p.m. the day before.

Fantastic trip! - Everything was very well organized: pick-up, snorkeling and visit of Phantom Island. We saw beautiful fish and really incredible corals, and the water around the island was spectacular. Big thanks to amazing Sebastian!

A lot of fun - Ken and team provided great service. We had a lot of fun and ample time at phantom island. Japan is great protecting marine life and keeping the visits limited to phantom island. Great experience!

Excellent all around! - So glad we found this tour! It was well-organized from the start, with our guide Sebastian picking us up from our hotel. He is super friendly and speaks both English and Japanese. He took care of us and the other non-Japanese speakers in the group. Safety and snorkeling instructions as well as equipment were provided on the boat ride out to the snorkeling area. The colors of the reef and fish were breathtaking! The water is so clear, and the variety of life is incredible! I’m in awe of the beauty we saw. I’m not much of a risk-taker, but I felt quite safe. Afterwards, we went to the phantom island and had free time there to swim and take photos. Our guides also took nice photos for us both snorkeling and at the island, and these were shared already on the way back. The tour seemed full but wasn’t so big that anything felt crowded, even on the tiny phantom island. This little island is very cool, you can forget about the rest of world for a little while. After returning, we could use the shower station at the port for free, which was helpful because we’d already checked out of the hotel as we were flying later that evening. I highly recommend this wonderful tour, and you’ll get some great memories and photos to help you through the gray days of winter. Thank you so much!

Fun! - Well organized, friendly accommodating staff. Snorkeling. Visit to Phantom Island. Saw beautiful coral & small fish snorkeling. Sebastian was awesome! Went above & beyond to make sure everyone’s experience was fun! Very attentive to our needs. 1/2 day was perfect for us but if you want more snorkeling time consider all day. Total time on water 2 hrs.

Fantastic Snorkeling Tour Around Ishigaki Island! - Certainly! Sebastian and his crew were incredibly kind and helpful, ensuring everyone was comfortable. The boat and equipment were clean and well-maintained. They also took amazing pictures during the tour and sent them to us—a wonderful keepsake! Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area.

Amazing experience - We loved the tour! The coral was beautiful and we saw many fish. Also, Phantom Island was beautiful! And…. We loved our guide Sebastian, he was so friendly and a lot of fun! He speaks English very well.

Exceptional Experience and Sights! - AMAZING!!! Sebastian was so helpful and friendly making sure we got to see and experience everything perfectly. He even made sure we were comfortable the whole way through. We highly recommend this tour. The sandbar aka phantom island and snorkeling. He was also our personal photographer and sent us all the pictures immediately after at no additional charge!

Amazing experience with a friendly team! - Beautiful experience snorkeling, we saw many tabletop coral and colorful fishes. The PiPi team made us feel safe and guarded. They were very kind and patient, good teachers. The photos also look great. Amazing experience with a friendly staff!

Nice snorkel experience - The guide is very helpful and caring! The guide took a good video with coral and fish. We did a 15-min snorkel and had a 20-min free time at a beach.

Great tour! - The tour was so much fun! The snorkelling was really cool, we saw so many different fishes and cool corals. Our guide Masahiro was great. He took good pictures for us so we could live in the moment while doing the tour. Thank you!
