Alternatively, other myths propose its establishment by a Titan’s daughter, Ephyra, hence the city’s ancient name, Ephyra. Established in the 10th Century BCE, Ancient Corinth was the biggest city of its time in Greece, and it held the title of the wealthiest port. In 44 BCE, Julius Caesar refounded it as a Roman colony. This was the major city where, according to the New Testament, the Apostle Paul formed a successful church and to which he sent two of his epistles.
