Insediamento Rupestre di Zungri - “The Rocky Settlement, also called
Grotto
covers an area of about 3,000 square meters. Built and modified over time, the oldest traces of the site seem to date back to the 8th-12th century. It consists of dozens of rock-hewn units partly excavated in the rock and partly built, for residential use, as shelters for domestic animals, for the production of wine and lime, for the storage of grain. The Caves of Fungi are immersed in a magical and fascinating natural environment.”

Enjoy a trip into the past. Visit the rock settlement and its secret caves. It consists of dozens of rock-hewn units partly excavated in the rock and partly built, for residential use, as shelters for domestic animals, for the production of wine and lime, and for the storage of grain. Our driver will pick you up at a meeting point easily reachable from anywhere, and a dream will begin. The itinerary to the Austrian Settlement starts with a visit to the Museum and winds through a path leading to the archaeological site. This route proceeds “backward in time”, since the first buildings are also the most recent ones, getting to the oldest part of the settlement going down the path, up to the areas not yet accessible to the public that hide many other secrets.
