Additional Information

On this tour we will visit the wonderful cities of Alberobello (also known as the city of trulli) and Matera

Alberobello was named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996 because it is an exceptional example of building construction using prehistoric techniques that have survived intact and still function in the modern world.

A “Trullo” is in effect a small limestone house, made of dry stone walls, roughly worked limestone boulders collected from nearby fields and topped with a conical roof.
Souvenir shops, B&Bs, bars and restaurants will cheer up your stay in Alberobello.

Matera is the city of the Sassi, the original urban nucleus, developed starting from the natural caves dug into the rock and subsequently modeled into increasingly complex structures within two large natural amphitheaters which are the Sasso Caveoso and the Sasso Barisano.

Great experience - We had s great time. Very organised tour, bus departed in time, we received leaflets with all needed information, tips what to see in both destinations and a snack on the bus. Even if a guide was not included in the tour, we had a good surprise in Matera and Pasquale, our guide, walk us throughout the beautiful Matera with great details offered.

Excellent transport option - I was looking for a way to visit Matera by public transport and came across this option which also included a morning visit to Alberobello~ perfect! The bus location was easy to find in Bari, on time, clean and staff were friendly and helpful. There is no tour involved but in Alberobello it is very easy to navigate yourself and 3 hours is plenty of time to see the trulli houses and have a good look around. We left promptly at 12.30pm for Matera and once we arrived there was an option to follow a guide to show you around this incredible city and then go back and visit further on your own. It’s difficult to see everything in this time because Matera is so big but it gave you a very good opportunity to see the famous landmarks/places of significance. We left Matera on time to be back in Bari by 6.30pm. It really was an excellent day and for those looking for a convenient and stress free option of getting to Alberobello and Matera, I would highly recommend it.

absolutely no complaints - Smoothly organised, this allows you to see both stunning places. They provide transport and basic information (distribute booklets/brochures in various languages). There is no “classic” guide, which I found perfectly fine. In fairness we were merged with another group in Marena and had complimentary guided sightseeing. I opted out of it and chose to see the city in my own pace.

Excellent day trip - Arabello was amazing. The guide was great and showed lots of interesting sights. The price is half of the other sites and provides a similar service with some free time as well.

Amazing Service - An amazing experience and service. Couldn’t thank Francesco enough, unfortunately we were late for the bus however he offered to take us to Alberobello himself to make sure we don’t miss Matera. Very responsive and helpful. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to explore Italy and especially Alberobello and Matera 😊

Very professional and well organised tour - The tour was well organised, on time with tour staff welcoming us at the agreed meeting point. The transport was very comfortable and removed the stress from travelling to these two locations. Ample time for both locations to visit. At Alberobello we where free to wonder around the town which is small anyway but at Matera a tour guide was available for us and it was really a must have since he provided us with a lot of interesting information. Pasqualle was his name and was very kind in taking us around and explaining. The tour at matera is about 3.5Km so for those who do not wish to walk so long better speak beforehand and the tour guide can cooridnate a taxi around the town for an extra charge. Overall it was a very good value for money tour.

Great Day Trip - We had a great experience from start to finish. The first place Alberobello we arrived and we had 3 hours to explore on our own. Next stop Matera we had a tour guide take us through the history he was very knowledgeable. Then we had an hour or so to explore on our own, would highly recommended

Great experience and takes the stress out using public transport - Great experience - note this is not a guided tour, it’s just a private bus transfer from Bari to alberobello and Matera. They provided us with some biscuits for the journey as well as written info about the cities. We had about 3 hrs in alberobello and 4 hrs in Matera. Perfect amount of time to explore on your own and it took the stress out of trying to catch the public bus. Bus was clean and the driver was lovely.

Ok - The long drive without a tour guide was pretty boring - seeing the trulli homes and Matera was amazing
