Itinerary:
• Your driver will pick you up at your Hotel, Villa, or Port in the morning.
• The first stop will be in Pompeii. We recommend spending about 2.5 hours exploring the ancient Roman town that was largely destroyed and buried under volcanic ash during Mount Vesuvius’s eruption in AD 79. You will have the opportunity to walk around on your own, using an audio guide or a licensed private guide that we can book for you to make the most of your time. The English-speaking tour guide will show you the highlights of the site.
• The tour will continue to Mount Vesuvius. We will drive up to about 3000 feet, and from there, you will start a 75-minute hike to the summit of the crater. Mount Vesuvius is best known for its eruption in AD 79, which led to the destruction of Pompeii and Herculaneum and the deaths of 10,000 to 25,000 people. It has erupted many times since and is considered one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world.
• Afterward, the tour will continue to a local winery at the foot of Mount Vesuvius, where you can enjoy a wonderful view of Capri, Sorrento, and the entire Bay of Naples. At this winery, you can taste the famous “Lacryma Christi” wine. You will be served five wines (white, red, and rosé), all accompanied by typical food specialties of the Campania region (such as bruschetta with salami and provolone, spaghetti with cherry tomatoes and fresh basil, and Pastiera Napoletana, a ricotta and corn pie typical of Easter time). The menu price is €28.00 per person.
• After the winery lunch, the excursion will conclude in the afternoon at your Hotel or Port.
