Highly educational - I cannot emphasize enough how well our tour guide Paco did. He was incredibly knowledgeable and just fun to talk to. He went out of his way to help us out. Then he took us to lunch locally and it’s probably the best Mexican cooked by a local abuelita that I’ve ever had. Hands down the best experience of our vacation!

A Most Enjoyable Experience - Pablo was so knowledgeable and well-spoken. We learned so much about the archeological site we visited plus he also answered many other questions we had about Zihua and surrounds. The tour was well paced and the lunch delicious. I would highly recommend this tour and Viator in general. The van was comfortable and nicely air conditioned. I can't speak highly enough of Pablo and the staff at Viator.

Luis, the great - our new friend - Luis has such a wealth of knowledge, is kind and super helpful. He and Adan, the “walking museum” made the history and archeology of this area come alive in such a delightful way! We’d go anywhere with Luis as our guide. Being a part of a family tradition where his father began the tour guide business, it feels like you’re with Family while getting to experience the rich history and culture of Mexico here in Zihuatanejo. Sorry we didn’t get a chance to enjoy Luis’s other tours - we’ll definitely come back to do so!

Definitely a worthwhile daytrip! - Pablo made the tour a huge hit for us with his extensive knowledge of the area, culture, history, and archaeology site! We had a refreshingly air-conditioned van and a delicious stop for lunch. Our 14 and 16 year-old kids, who were a bit reluctant about the tour at first as it was taking them away from the beach / pool, thanked us afterward, saying that it was a real highlight of their overall trip.

Wear a hat - The Xihuacan museum (built as a local initiative, by our guide's account) is impressive and provides a solid background for the onsite visits to the ball court and the pyramid. The pyramid site gives a view of the surrounding country -- it is fascinating to imagine that the corn fields and coconut plantations were once part of a trading city that drew visitors from around Mexico. The guide, Enrique, was good-natured and very engaged with the group and provided a wide range of information on the current local economy and the survival of Indigenous languages. Our driver did an excellent job. Lunch at the country restaurant was fun and the food was good. I question the recurring expectation for tips, tips, tips on every side -- this raised the per person cost of the tour by about 15 per cent for my wife and me.
