Muscat-Nizwa Market (Souq) and Fort-Misfat Al Abreyeen-Jebel Shams (Grand Canyon)

Nizwa Souk - In the morning, the journey begins from Muscat to Nizwa, the former capital of Oman. Upon arrival in Nizwa, the first stop is the Nizwa Souq, where a diverse array of vendors display their goods along the streets. Visitors can find vegetables, pottery, jewelry, handicrafts, Omani sweets (Halwa), dates, spices, and souvenirs in the charming old market halls. The Friday cattle market is particularly fascinating, as locals from nearby villages gather to sell goats, cattle, sheep, and chickens in a lively, open marketplace.

Nizwa Fort Oman - Adjacent to the Souq is Nizwa Fortress, now a museum offering breathtaking views of the ancient town and surrounding mountains. Visitors can explore the impressive fortress, with its numerous rooms, passages, and towers. The fort stands as an architectural testament to the economic and military prowess of the early Yaruba dynasty from the mid-17th century. It was a formidable military stronghold, designed to withstand even the most powerful attacks of its time, with traps laid along the corridors to deter intruders.

Misfat al Abreyeen - From Nizwa, the tour continues to Misfat Al Abreyeen village. This charming village, situated on a steep slope at the base of Jebel Shams, is a few kilometers from Al Hamra Town. It features old homes and narrow streets, with a Falaj system that irrigates numerous orchards, date palms, and vegetable gardens. Spending time walking around the village is highly recommended.

Jabal Shams - The journey then ascends to Jebel Shams Mountain (The Grand Canyon), standing at 3009 meters high. This mountain is one of Oman’s most adventurous, offering thrilling off-road experiences and stunning views. At the canyon view, which is 2000 meters high, visitors can stop to enjoy the scenery and take photos before continuing to the resort for an overnight stay.

Jebel Shams (Trekking)-Jebreen Castle-Muscat

W6 - Balcony Walk Hike - In the morning, the trek continues along the W6 path, a 3 to 4-hour hike. The edge of the canyon provides spectacular views of the various Wadis and breathtaking valleys below.

Jibreen Castle - After descending the mountain, the next stop is Jabreen Castle. Originally designed as a residential palace in 1670 by Balarab bin Sultan bin Saif Al Ya’arubi Dynasty, it underwent extensive renovation in 1984. The interior features various furniture and traditional utensils, offering visitors a glimpse into the castle lifestyle of the period. The building is adorned with intricate wood carvings, ceiling paintings, and stucco work. From Jabreen Castle, the journey returns to Muscat.
