Additional Information

Gently shaken, never stirred. Choose small boats on the Snake River for a wild ride with bigger whitewater action. With eight passengers per boat, this raft trip is unforgettable. On a small boat, you can expect to get wet, no matter where you sit in the raft. Grab a paddle and get ready for a whitewater adventure on the Snake River. This raft has 6 paddling positions and 2 non-paddling positions.

  • Bring a change of dry clothes, a towel, and a sweatshirt on the bus with you. It will be waiting for you at the end of your trip.
  • Conditions can be variable; you may experience a cold day on the river. (Not to worry, it will still be a lot of fun. You just have to dress appropriately!)
  • Please wear shoes that can get wet that will not fall off your feet. An old pair of running shoes or water shoes would be your best option. You must wear footwear in the raft, so we do have booties available for rent if you do not have footwear. Sizes run 2 – 15 and can be rented upon arrival for $5.00 per pair.
  • Please wear synthetic clothing if possible and bring layers. Synthetics are best for the river because they dry faster than cotton. A bathing suit underneath shorts and a t-shirt is fine for a nice, warm, summer day.
  • Splash gear is complimentary. On a cold day, you’ll want a bathing suit to wear under the wet suit.
  • Sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat are highly recommended.
  • We have wet suits & wet suit jackets available for rent. Wet suits are $10.00 to rent. Wet suit jackets are $5.00 to rent.
  • Please note kids must weigh at least 50 pounds or more to go rafting!

Best of the Boats - Great trip with Ree. She was a great host, navigator and educator! Our companions were also really nice. The Mad River company was especially accommodating - something you can’t always depend on. Definitely give it a shot. You won’t be dissatisfied!

Very nice float given by very nice people - It was an excellent trip, guided by Zach, who was a non-stop fountain of information/stories about the Snake River and the surrounding area and its history. He additionally had an "eagle" eye for Bald Eagles (see what I did there?). We saw 16 (!) Bald Eagles and three nests in the span of 13 miles. Water current was steadily moving and we experienced some class II & III rapids at the end of the float. We were up front and got mildly splashed, which was all fun. Really good sandwich at about the halfway point was part of our trip. I would recommend this trip wholeheartedly.

Very fun and well organized - This was our family’s 4th rafting trip and we had a great experience with Mad River. The company was really well organized with good equipment (other companies we’ve gone with hand you a wet suit that’s still wet and worn out booties but not Mad River - the wet suits and booties were dry and good quality). We had a lot of fun riding the rapids, especially Lunch Counter. Kaleb was our guide and navigated us well. Our time slot had two rafts depart. I liked that it wasn’t a zoo like we’ve experienced with other rafting companies. The booking process was easy.

Snake River experience - We had such a great time on the river with the Mad River boat crew. We did 2; a scenic and a small boat whitewater and both trips were amazing! Katie S. was an outstanding guide, very knowledgable about the area and very skilled. This was my second whitewater trip with MR and with Katie- I had so much fun the first time that I had to come back and bring my husband and granddaughter. Awesome experience!
