Capturing Jaipur: A Family Adventure in Photography
When I stumbled upon a photography workshop in Jaipur, I knew it was the perfect opportunity to explore the city’s vibrant culture through a new lens. Join me as I share my experience capturing the beauty of Jaipur with my family.
Discovering Jaipur Through the Lens
As a family travel writer, I’m always on the lookout for unique experiences that can be both educational and enjoyable for the whole family. When I heard about the Photography Workshop in Jaipur, I knew it was something I had to try. Jaipur, with its vibrant colors and rich history, seemed like the perfect backdrop for a photography adventure.
The workshop began at The Open Space Society (TOSS Jaipur), a creative hub that immediately set the tone for the day. Our mentors, Shobhit and Suhasini Tiwari, were not only award-winning photographers but also incredibly approachable and eager to share their knowledge. They started with a brief introduction to smartphone photography, emphasizing the importance of composition and lighting. As someone who usually relies on my trusty DSLR, I was intrigued by the potential of my smartphone camera.
Capturing the Essence of Jaipur
Our first stop was Maharaniyon Ki Chatriyan, a serene site that offered a perfect blend of history and beauty. The intricate architecture and peaceful surroundings made it an ideal location to practice the techniques we had just learned. Shobhit and Suhasini guided us through the process, offering tips on how to capture the essence of the place. It was fascinating to see how a simple change in angle or lighting could transform a photo.
Next, we headed to Panna Meena Ka Kund, a hidden gem near Amber Fort. This ancient stepwell, with its colorful steps and intricate carvings, felt like stepping into a fairytale. The mentors encouraged us to explore different perspectives, and I found myself getting lost in the details of the carvings and the play of light and shadow. It was a magical experience that left me with a newfound appreciation for the art of photography.
A Memorable Experience
The workshop concluded back at TOSS Jaipur, where we had the opportunity to review and edit our photos. Poorvi Singhal, a seasoned travel writer and Old City expert, shared fascinating stories about the locations we visited, adding depth to our understanding of Jaipur’s history and culture. As we sipped on freshly brewed tea and enjoyed some local snacks, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for the experience.
This workshop was more than just a photography lesson; it was a journey into the heart of Jaipur. It reminded me of the importance of slowing down and truly seeing the world around us. Whether you’re a seasoned photographer or a beginner, this experience offers something for everyone. And for families like mine, it’s a wonderful way to bond and create lasting memories together. If you ever find yourself in Jaipur, I highly recommend giving this workshop a try. It’s an adventure you won’t soon forget!
