Here, you’ll see a temple with an ancient pagoda built in 1650 and visit the old temple of “Yin and Yang,” representing Good and Bad, Heaven and Hell, or karma. You’ll also explore the Petak Sembilan market. Glodok is one of the oldest Chinatowns, originally called “Grojok” due to the Sundanese language before colonial times, and later “Gelodog,” referring to the gate of Batavia during the colonial era. In this experience, you’ll be captivated by the area known as “Glodok.” You’ll find many shops selling herbs, candies, crackers, cakes, and more. After Glodok, you’ll proceed to the Old Town in 10 minutes.
- Jakarta Old Town - Upon entering the Old Town, you’ll see old buildings designed in a Chinese-European style that have stood since the colonial era. Inside the Old Town, there’s a large garden spanning 139 square meters, also known as City Hall, and referred to as “Fatahillah Park” after the Sultanate of Banten who attacked the area in “Sunda Kelapa,” the original name of Jakarta. While in the park, you’ll see buildings used as museums, a post office, cafes, and official offices. In the afternoon, you’ll spend an hour or less here before proceeding to the Fish Market or PIK, the highlight of the program. PIK is the modern Chinatown on Jakarta’s northern coast.
In this program, you can choose to extend or shorten your tour based on the half-day tour options we provide. You can also select the best place for dinner from our recommendations, such as Cafe Batavia Jakarta, Resto Apung Fish Market, or the PIK Avenue area.
- Pusat Perikanan Muara Angke - Jakarta offers an interesting fish market and culinary tourism experience at Resto Floating Muara Angke. As the name suggests, this restaurant is on the sea, but you don’t need to cross by boat as the entrance is on land. Here, you can see and buy fish or have it cooked directly at Resto Apung.
- PIK Avenue - Upon arriving at “The highlight of the tour,” you’ll experience a fascinating Chinatown in the afternoon with lantern lights. This is a Jakarta Business District with a Chinese dominant area, offering a nice view and Instagram-worthy spots. You can explore the avenue with long canals and red lanterns, have dinner, take pictures, shop, or hang out.
- National Monument (MONAS) - This is the final stop of our program. We’ll make a photo stop at the National Monument, a symbol of Indonesia’s capital, shining with gold at night at a height of 132 meters in an 80-hectare garden in front of the presidential palace. We’ll drop you back at your hotel in 1 hour.

In the 17th century, Glodok was an area of isolation for easier control due to the residents’ business acumen.
