National Museum - After departing from the hotel or accommodation, within 30 minutes to an hour, visit the National Museum. Commonly known as the Elephant Museum, it stands prominently at the forecourt and boasts a vast collection representing all of Indonesia. As one of the finest museums in Southeast Asia, it has preserved approximately 141,000 objects, including prehistoric artifacts, archaeology, ethnography, art, history, and geography. The guide will provide detailed explanations of each exhibit. Visitors are welcome to take photos inside the museum. While waiting for the driver, there will be an opportunity to take photos in front of the museum with its iconic “elephant statue” before the driver takes the group to Istiqlal Mosque.
-
Istiqlal Mosque - Upon arrival at the mosque, visitors can take pictures outside and enter the mosque with other travelers on a joined tour, guided by a representative. While entering the mosque, appropriate clothing is provided, and shoes must be removed in accordance with regulations. Istiqlal, also known as the Independence Mosque, is the largest mosque in Southeast Asia and the 9th largest in the world by worshiper capacity. After the visit, proceed across the street to experience the old church.
-
Jakarta Cathedral - Upon arrival at the church, visitors can take photos outside and explore. The cathedral, located almost opposite the mosque, symbolizes peace and religious tolerance. It is one of the oldest churches, predating the mosque, and the area has a rich history dating back to the Dutch era. This neo-gothic church was consecrated in 1901, having been rebuilt at the same location. The Jakarta Cathedral is near Merdeka Square, the presidential palace, and in front of Istiqlal Mosque. The visit continues with sightseeing and a photo stop at the monument.
-
National Monument (MONAS) - After the cathedral, proceed to Chinatown, passing by the presidential palace, and stop for a photo of the monument. The National Monument is a 132m obelisk in the center of Merdeka Square, symbolizing Indonesia’s fight for independence and serving as a landmark of the capital. It is an ideal spot for photos while in Jakarta without waiting in line for the lift. After the stop, there is an option to enjoy food or continue to Chinatown in 15 minutes.
-
Jakarta - Lunch will feature local cuisine, or visitors can choose to dine at Batavia Cafe, a recommended restaurant, at their own expense.
-
Glodok Chinatown - Visit the historic Chinatown, established in 1650, featuring an old pagoda. Jakarta’s Chinatown is one of the busiest and most fascinating, being the largest in the country. Explore the bustling market and its temple, dedicated to Taoism, Confucianism, and Buddhism, offering a rich historical experience. This tour is filled with heritage sites. The guide will lead the exploration and offer the option to take a Tuk Tuk to the Old Town. Whether to take it or not is up to the visitors, as the driver will either wait or proceed directly to the Old Town.
-
Jakarta Old Town - Upon arrival by Tuk Tuk or car at Old Town Batavia, the guide will explain Batavia, also known as “Kota Tua,” a reminder of Indonesia’s history dominated by Europeans. Many buildings feature European and Chinese architectural styles, built in the 17th century as the town hall during the Dutch VOC colonial era. The tour continues to the Puppet or Wayang Studio.
-
Fatahillah Square - This is a special opportunity to explore the historical site with our expert guide. Experience the history by walking through the area, visiting ruins, and learning from the archaeologist. Discover the first building of Jayakarta, the castle, bastion, house of spices, and more.
-
Makutharama Puppet Studio - Still within the Old Town area, some colonial-era buildings, originally used for offices, churches, and banks, are now museums, studios, and cafes. One building houses a puppet studio, offering a delightful attraction to see puppet-making and a 9-minute show, if time permits. It’s a great place for souvenirs.
-
Sunda Kelapa Harbour - Arriving at the Old Harbour, not far from the Old Town and passing by Kota Intan Bridge, this harbor marks the historical beginning where traders and sailors first arrived, leading to colonization. It is the largest and oldest harbor from the 15th century, dominated by Asian ethnicities before Europeans. The harbor remains active for logistic trading with the traditional Phinisi boats. This concludes the program, with a 15-minute return to the hotel, taking 45 minutes to an hour.
