Highlights
  • Sunda Kelapa Harbour - Sunda Kelapa Harbour is the oldest port in Jakarta, established during the Hindu Kingdom era. It served as the main gateway to Jakarta and continues to operate for domestic cargo today. Here, we will take a boat ride along the canal in traditional boats owned by locals, get up close to Indonesian traditional wooden boats (phinisi), fisherman boats, and large wooden vessels, and interact with the local workers at the harbour.

  • Merdeka Square - Merdeka Square is a large plaza located in downtown central Jakarta. At the square, we will stop for photos at the Presidential Palace (Indonesia’s White House, photo stop only in front of the palace), take a short walk at the National Monument (an icon of Indonesia), and view the government buildings surrounding the monument.

  • Glodok Chinatown - In Glodok (Chinatown), we will visit the oldest Chinese temple, Petak Sembilan or Dharma Bhakti Temple, built in 1650 and one of Jakarta’s oldest temples. From the temple, we will explore the wet market (Chinatown market) to observe local activities and see a variety of items for sale, such as vegetables, fish, fruits, groceries, and more. We will also taste local food and fruits from Indonesia.

  • Jakarta Old Town - Enjoy Jakarta Old Town, known as Kota Tua, a city with Dutch buildings and history. Here, we will walk along the canal, enjoy the square (Stadhuis), which served as Jakarta’s old city hall at Fatahillah Square. This area is bustling on weekends as locals visit to enjoy the ambiance.

  • National Monument (MONAS) - This is Jakarta’s landmark, standing 132 meters tall and symbolizing the Indonesian spirit during the colonial era. The top of the monument is adorned with 50 kg of gold. We will stop here for a photo opportunity and a short walk in the park.

Please note that the National Monument is closed every Monday.

  • Istiqlal Mosque - Istiqlal Mosque is the largest mosque in Southeast Asia and a major highlight in Jakarta. During our visit, we will tour the mosque with an official guide who will explain its significance and the role of Islam in Indonesia. You will also appreciate the beautiful architecture of the main prayer room.

Please note that Istiqlal Mosque is closed on Fridays for religious purposes.

  • Jakarta Cathedral - Located opposite Istiqlal Mosque, Jakarta Cathedral is a beautiful Catholic church with a neo-gothic style. The church and Istiqlal Mosque symbolize Indonesia’s unity. Inside the church, you will see its European-style design.

Super day in Jakarta - It was a really fun day exploring places in Jakarta that isn't easy on your own. Took fun and many pictures at the completely different religions spots, Islamic, Catholic and Buddhist, explored the Chinese market and more. My guide, Neti, was super fun and energetic and ready to customize my day to meet my interests. Our driver was a gentleman as well.

Jakarta in a day. - Ratih gave us a really good look at Jakarta’s touristy areas and also the port and Chinatown. She was very informative, with a vast historical background - all in very easily understood English. Took us to a great restaurant for lunch, we never felt rushed and loved the boat trip on the harbour. Would recommend this tour to anyone.

Unforgettable experience - We were hesitating whether we preferred to see Jakarta by ourselves or with a local guide, but it was the best decision we could have made to book this trip! Our amazing and cheerful guide Neti, made the experience unforgettable! We had a lot of fun for the whole day and were taught a lot of fascinating facts. We had a chance to explore many different districts of Jakarta, not just the modern part. The trip was so well-organized (we were lucky to be there on a local holiday though) that after we finished the main plan, we ended up having extra time and were able to add extra activities. I definitely recommend the tour, especially if you only have one day and you want to make the most of it.

Great Jakarta city tour - Great private tour including main Jakarta attractions/monuments. We appreciated in particular the visit of handmade puppets' shop. The only thing not that interesting that we did was the boat ride as there are not many things to see - our skipper was nice. Special thanks to our guide and the driver.

Average - Besides Chinatown and the wet market, Jakarta is very unimpressive. It is a big dirty and mostly polluted city. The guy did her best to show us things that might be of interest, but compared to many other spots in Asia. Jakarta is low on my list.

Negative experience. - After the abysmal experience obtained at my last stop, at 10:30 am they no longer had tomato scratched for toast and that after waiting more than half an hour in an endless line to order, I allow myself to recommend La Noguera de Pozoseco on Km 207 of the A3, just five kilometers. Greetings.
