Highlights

VIP Tous Jamaica transports visitors to the Appleton Estate and YS Falls in style. The Appleton Estate, a historic sugar estate and distillery in Jamaica, has been crafting rums since 1749. They offer a variety of aged rums, as well as standard gold and white rums. Situated in the heart of Jamaica’s sugar cane region, it is the oldest sugar estate and distillery in the country. The estate’s sugar cane is harvested both by machine and traditionally by workers with machetes.

A visit to this plantation takes you back in time, showcasing the traditional methods of milling cane for juice and producing rum and sugar, alongside modern techniques. Visitors can watch a 10-minute video detailing the entire process before starting the tour. You can sample all the by-products of sugar cane, including juice, molasses, wet sugar, and various rum flavors, which many visitors find to be a highlight. After spending about 2 hours here, the tour concludes, and it’s time to board your vehicle for the next attraction.

Your driver/guide will then take you to YS Falls. Originally a cane farm with a factory, YS Estate also supplied logwood for export to Europe. The current owner, Simon Browne, opened YS Falls to the public in 1992, fulfilling his lifelong dream. Although he initially wanted to admit only 25 people a day, the falls’ popularity has grown, and he now monitors visitor numbers to preserve its natural beauty. The tour begins with a short ride on a jitney, pulled by a tractor, through fields and across a river to this hidden paradise.

Enjoy the refreshing waterfalls, climb to different levels, swing on a rope, or simply relax on a stone and enjoy the water. There are pools for both adults and children, ziplining, or you can sit on the deck and watch hummingbirds drink from feeders. After spending about 2 hours, it’s time to change into dry clothes, get back on the bus, and prepare for your transfer back to Montego Bay.

Adventure - This was an Island Routes trip and it involved seeing natural waterfalls and swimming in the pools and spending time in the souvenir shop at YS Falls. The falls is on a cattle farm. From there the adventure continues at the Appleton Rum estate. A tour guide takes you are the factory and shows you how to make rum. Also learn some history of Black River and the role rum plays in the economy. Really good excursion and rum tasting.

The Appleton Rum Estate tour was... -
The Appleton Rum Estate tour was great! Learned alot about the history of Appleton rum while getting to enjoy a tour of the factory and a complimentary tasting of the various rums made onsite. Our tour guide Keyon was fun and knowledgeable.

YS Falls was awesome, except for the fact that we got rained out! More like deterred due to lightening. We did manage to make it up to the top and get across a few of the walkways before getting out of the water.

Our tour driver, Patrick of VIP Tours was amazing! He was extremely professional and courteous while also being knowledgeable and friendly. Made the long day an easy one. His professionalism exceeded our expectations so much that we rebooked him for another tour 2 days later!
