Rottnest and back - fantastic - What a great experience. I am a bit of a nervous flyer but the guys' cheerful banter put me at ease right from the start. I would do it again in a minute.

Charity Flight - I bid for and won a scenic flight to Rottnest at a charity auction. I honestly don’t think there is a single thing I’d improve about the experience at all - from the customer service, being flexible when storms postponed our original trip, to the immediacy of the replies and the way we were handled during and after the amazing trip. I can not recommend this enough - an indulgence one might think but so worth it and to see the ocean from the air and the crystal clear waters around Rottnest felt to be a privilege so worthy of probably making the ferry journey too ghastly a prospect for our next visit. We will be availing ourselves of Kookaburra air again, without doubt on some of their other adventures and I’m already salivating at the prospect of lunch at Leeuwin Estate. Meanwhile big shout to Kookaburra Air and their generosity in donating the experience so that people living with disability benefit.

AMAZING PILOT, FANTASTIC KNOWLEDGE, WONDERFUL DAY - JACK flew us from Perth to the Pinnacles then to Rottnes. IT WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD. We flew over whales, circled the PINNACLES and were given first class service. Jacks knowledge, courteousness, company and experience just added to a perfect day. From the pinnacles to Rottnest island Jacks flying experience showed in his landings and takeoffs in avoiding weather! Jack just gave us a great experience. Thanks Jack! You were such a top bloke! We wish you well! If you want an outstanding memorable experience these guys were sensational.

Scenic Rottnest Flight - I purchase the half day trip to Rottnest island as an anniversary present for my boyfriend. The pilot was polite and skilled in his instructions and knowledge of the Perth metro area, once landing on Rottnest he gave some good tips on what to do around the island. When we ready to fly home he even took us on a scenic flight over Rottnest to ensure we got the full private scenic flight experience. We would definitely use this company again if we wanted a different tour experience!

Fantastic Day - We had a wonderful day with Kookaburra Air. They picked us up at our Perth CBD hotel on time at 7am and whisked us out to the airport, where we met our pilot Erfan (hope that spelling's right). After some quick preliminaries we boarded our Cessna Cutlass RG and took to the skies, heading east to Wave Rock. Erfan was very competent and made us feel quite safe in the air. The plane was a recent model and seemed in very good condition. Landing after a 70-odd minute flight, Erfan drove us the minute or two to The Hippo Yawn and Wave Rock, telling us quite a lot about it, and also left us alone for a time to poke around by ourselves. After a light meal at the Hyden Roadhouse we had another smooth take-off and set a heading for The Pinnacles, which are very interesting to view from the air. This was a three-hour flight and our pilot Erfan was fine for us both to sit in the back seat. After some good turns around The Pinnacles we steered back south towards Rottnest Island, lunching on the way, and had a brilliant view of the WA coastline all the way down. It was blowing a stiffish crosswind at Rottnest, but we set down comfortably and spent a couple of hours exploring the picturesque Island. Finally it was time to head back to Perth. Again it was windy, but we got off smoothly and in a short hop were back in the city. All in all it was an excellent service, a real treat of a day. We were dropped off back at our hotel late in the afternoon after an absolute feast of touring. We found Erfan to be highly professional in every way, helpful, friendly and the whole set-up was great. If you want to get around the sights by plane, I would absolutely recommend Kookaburra Air.

Flight and half day visit to Rottnest Island - A great experience. Mum and I were both nearvous at first, being in a small plane, the pilot was wonderful and put us at ease, pointing out various landmarks as we flew. A nice bus ride round the island with lunch and coffee looking out over the ocean. Thankyou Jandakot Flight Centre and Kookaburra Air, wonderful.....

Fine for air transport, disappointing for tours - We used kookaburra air for a flight/tour of Hamelin Pool and Monkey Mia (about $2000 for two people). We were somewhat disappointed and didn't find it a good use of time and money. Positives: - the owner and pilot were professional and on time for picking us up - they offer flights for hire, they're not supposed to be cheap, and having them available is better than not having any - I'm sure they're a fine choice for transportation only and going to/from Rottnest Island - Our tour included a pickup/guide in Monkey Mia and one at Hamelin Pool. Both were there and waiting for us Negatives: - It's a long flight due to the distance (up to 3h depending on winds), and the mooney they used is one of the most cramped 4 seaters available. It's cheaper to operate and more efficient, but very uncomfortable for 4. Unfortunately they used our flight to check out a pilot, so I didn't get to sit in the front with more leg room (by putting the seat back) and my exhausted wife (long trip the day prior and getting up at 05:00 that day) was not able to lay down on the back seat. My legs were hurting quite a bit from being so cramped at the end of the day, it was more uncomfortable than the worst airline coach flight I've had. With only 2 passengers and one pilot, I know it's more manageable, but with 4, I don't recommend it when you're looking at 5-6 hours of flying in the day. To be honest, if I'm paying private transport rates, I'm not going to be happy with an extra person in the plane and very cramped seating. - The owner and pilots were just pilots. One of the two knew virtually nothing about the places we were going to (ok, he was new), and the owner wasn't able to give us much of a tour. Of course, when he first offered ear plugs to wear in the plane instead of noise cancelling headsets, it's kind of hard for him to even tell us much about what we're seeing from the air. - They didn't explain to us where we could snorkel and whether it would make sense to even bother carrying that (reasonably heavy) gear with us, including under water camera. Monkey Mia, there is no reason to snorkel there unless you just want to get wet. Hamelin pool, it's just not allowed at all (but again, not much you'd see in the water due to little fish life). That's totally fine but I wish they had just told us "you can snorkel if you really want to, but only at one of the two locations and it's underwhelming". I had to ask more than once whether we should even carry the snorkel gear from the plane and in the end we didn't use it at all. - Our biggest disappointment was arriving at Monkey Mia. We arrived later than usual due to bad winds, but either way, we would have arrived too late for the last time the dolphins came to the beach those days. When we arrived, they just told us "see you at the restaurant in 1h" and dumped us there. No info, what to see, or how the dolphin viewings worked. The fact is that seeing dolphins come to the beach when you arrive around 09:30 and 10:00 is only a 50% shot it seems, which kind of sucks when you just spent $2k and the odds were 100% if you arrived 1h earlier. If only they had told us that we could have flown the evening before and slept there as an option, we'd definitely have considered that. Long story short, we got there way too late and missed the dolphins and paid way way too much money for a $100 burger (flying somewhere just to get a burger). Next was Hamelin Pool. The short flight there was scenic, the guide who met us gave us an interesting 45mn tour, and that was it, then it was time for a long uncomfortable flight back. To be fair, this is technically what the tour was supposed to be, but it could have been more with better planning and more information up front. - It's an expensive trip by design, I'm ok with that, but I felt a lot more could be done to give more information before and during the tour, and during the flight, as well as be honest upfront that arriving after 09:30 at Monkey Mia is a crapshoot (they could even get the current local times the dolphins have been coming by the last days from the visitor center and adjust accordingly).
