- 604 AB-16A - This journey takes us through 45 kilometers of the most spectacular scenery anywhere in the Canadian Rockies. The Maligne Valley is home to a wide range of flora and fauna, and it has geological features unique in the world. Our journey takes us searching for abundant wildlife while explaining the history and natural wonders to be explored. A 30-minute stop at Maligne Canyon allows us time to explore the two bridges, offering fantastic views of the cascading waterfall and continuing erosion of the ancient limestone.
As we continue into the Valley, we climb into the sub-alpine forests and view the expanding ranges of limestone rising out or Medicine Lake. A stop is made to photograph this natural wonder, and your guide traces its history with you.
From Medicine Lake, we continue up through a forest that is prime habitat for moose and bears. Sightings are common but not guaranteed as we are trying to view these animals in their natural habitat.
At world-famous Maligne Lake, you are led on a 2 to 3km interpretive nature walk. You take in beautiful lakeshore vistas before following the easy-grade trail loop back into the forested surrounds.

Embark on a journey through the breathtakingly picturesque Maligne Valley of Jasper National Park, a region known for its plentiful local fauna. Experience the majestic waterfalls of Maligne Canyon with a brief walk, capture memorable snapshots at Medicine Lake, and then partake in a guided exploration in the scenic surroundings of Maligne Lake’s shoreline.
- Important Note regarding Maligne Canyon Waterfalls: Due to damage caused by last summer’s wildfire, access to Maligne Canyon is currently closed by Parks Canada for infrastructure repairs to ensure visitor safety. If these repairs are not completed prior to your selected tour date, the short walk to view waterfalls in Maligne Canyon will not be possible. In this case, the tour will proceed with a slightly altered itinerary, offering alternative stops to showcase the area’s unique beauty. This includes a visit to Maligne Lookout, where you can view the dramatically changed landscape from a high vantage point, and additional time at Medicine Lake, featuring a short walk along the shore for stunning perspectives of the lake surrounded by towering limestone cliffs. Please rest assured that the tour length and price remain unchanged, and the overall experience will still provide incredible opportunities to explore and learn about the Maligne Valley’s natural wonders.
