Seongsan Sunrise Peak
[Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak] emerged from the sea during a volcanic eruption over 5,000 years ago. Situated on the eastern tip of Jejudo Island, it resembles a massive crown. The ridge is perfect for walking and horseback riding.
- Seopjikoji - Located on Jeju’s east coast, Seopjikoji is a stunning coastline adorned with canola flowers in spring, with Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak in the background and the beautiful Sinyang Beach nearby.
Visitors can experience Jeju’s traditional beauty, with expansive fields of canola flowers on the hills, Jeju ponies grazing peacefully, striking rocky cliffs, and the legendary Seonbawi Rock standing in the ocean.
Seopjikoji is distinct from other Jejudo Island coasts due to its red volcanic ash, known as “scoria,” and unique rock formations that appear only at low tide.
- Seongsan Ilchulbong - Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak, standing 180 meters above sea level, erupted underwater around 5,000 years ago, making it a rare geological feature among Jeju Island’s craters.
While the crater was once used for farming, it is now a natural habitat for 200 types of vegetation, including silvergrass and giant angelica, as well as various wild animals.
In popular culture, a scene from the movie ‘Lee Chang-ho’s Baseball Team’ (directed by Lee Chang-ho) was filmed here.
Seongsan Ilchulbong is renowned as one of Korea’s top scenic spots, drawing millions of visitors annually who climb to the summit for breathtaking panoramic views of the ocean, Udo Island, Hallasan Mountain, and the volcanic landscape of the east.
