Seongsan Ilchulbong - Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak, standing 180m above sea level, is a unique volcanic formation that erupted underwater around 5,000 years ago, among the many craters on Jeju Island. The eruption, caused by lava mixing with water, resulted in fine ash that accumulated conically around the crater. Initially a volcanic island, it became connected to the mainland near Shinyang Beach by sand and gravel. At the summit of Ilchulbong Peak, which is 600m in diameter, lies a crater with an area of 214,400㎡, situated 90m above sea level on the crater floor.
Free: Observation deck course (wheelchair accessible)
Paid: Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak Summit Course (1 person / $4)
- Gwangchigi Beach - Gwangchigi Beach, located on the route from Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak to Seopjikoji, is the final and second course of Jeju Olle. It features a geological structure formed by the rapid solidification of lava interacting with the sea, revealing hidden views at low tide. The stunning scenery created by the lava geology and green moss is a favorite among photographers, offering a unique landscape found nowhere else.
Many visitors come during the year-end and New Year holidays to capture the sunrise alongside Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak in a single frame. The sand at Gwangchigi Beach, formed over time through basalt weathering, is distinctively black.
- Ojo-ri - Nestled in a peaceful village, Ojopogu offers breathtaking views of Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak by the sea and is a popular filming location for dramas. The area features a dulle-gil, perfect for leisurely walks while enjoying the scenery. As Jeju Olleh course 2 passes through, hikers often pause to admire the views of Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak and the sea. A wooden bridge connects to Ojori Village, providing the sensation of walking on water. While there are no flashy attractions, visitors can relish the tranquility of this coastal village, where the sea, Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak, and the surrounding natural beauty create a harmonious and picturesque setting.
