The anticipation was palpable, and as we shared stories and aspirations, it was clear that this marathon was more than just a race; it was a journey of discovery.

The days leading up to the marathon were filled with a balance of training and exploration. Our mornings began with invigorating runs along the Nile, the cool morning air filled with the sounds of nature waking up. The training was intense but rewarding, as we pushed our limits amidst the stunning backdrop of Uganda’s natural beauty.
Afternoons were reserved for cultural exploration. We visited local communities, learning about their traditions and way of life. The people of Uganda welcomed us with open arms, sharing their stories and customs with genuine warmth. It was a humbling experience, reminding me of the importance of sustainable travel and the impact we can have on the communities we visit.
One of the highlights was a trek through the Rwenzori Mountains, where we encountered a rich tapestry of wildlife and flora. The sight of the majestic Rwenzori Turaco and the elusive three-horned chameleon was a thrill for the wildlife enthusiast in me. These moments of connection with nature were a poignant reminder of why I fell in love with Africa in the first place.
