Joal lies on the mainland and is renowned as the birthplace of Leopold Senghor, the nation’s inaugural president. Fadiouth, accessible via a lengthy wooden bridge, is situated on a tiny island made up entirely of centuries-old oyster shells and calm deposits. Enjoy a midday meal before heading to Toubacouta, pausing to visit the revered large baobab tree.\n\n### Day 02 - Visit to Fathala Wildlife Reserve\n\nFathala Reserve - Embark on a unique lion encounter today. Depart from your accommodation at 8:00 AM for a journey to Fathala Park. Upon arrival, complete the entrance formalities, followed by a short briefing from your guide about the safari, which includes a 45-minute guided walk with lions. Have your camera at the ready for this memorable experience. An optional safari tour of Fathala Reserve is available. Relish the African wilderness with your guide, with the opportunity to spot herds of the elusive West African Giant derby eland, indigenous to this region, along with other antelope varieties such as roan, waterbuck, and bushbuck. Additionally, you may encounter giraffes, rhinos, buffaloes, warthogs, red colobus, green velvet and red patas monkeys, and a vibrant array of birdlife amidst the towering trees of Africa.
