Additional Information

A one-day trip to the Soweto township presents an opportunity to immerse yourself in the dynamic hub of a city within a city. Acquaint yourself with Soweto’s rich history, culture, and spirited way of life. The township of Soweto was founded in the 1930s, with Orlando being the first to be established. During the 1950s, an increased number of African people were forcibly moved to Soweto from inner-city neighborhoods that the apartheid regime had designated for white occupancy. Soweto’s expansion was rather extraordinary and unregulated.

A brilliant tour - We had a brilliant tour with NK. We only had half a day in Johannesburg and he was really flexible and started the tour early so we could fit everything in. He is a lovely chap; hugely knowledgeable and a great communicator. He made us feel totally at ease during the tour. We learned so much, not just about Joberg and Soweto but about South Africa in general. We had so many questions on subjects from football to politics and he patiently answered them all. He pitched the tour perfectly and even my 12 year old enjoyed every minute. We also loved visiting The SHALK Community Project which does brilliant work and were glad that we were able to support it through the tour. I highly recommend NK and his tours.

Amazing customer experience at all levels - Amazing customer experience. I was very impressed by Nkuli, he provided me with an amazing customer service, he is very detail-oriented, responsive and kind, and thanks to him, my trip to Johannesburg and Soweto was magical. Nkuli adapted to all my last minute needs (airport pick up and drop off, change of travel dates, etc.). Captivating visit of Johannesburg and Soweto with Nkuli who is very knowledgeable and gave me a detailed history of Johannesburg and South Africa and took the time to show me various neighborhoods of Johannesburg, Soweto, including the Apartheid Museum, the Hector Pieterson Museum, Nelson Mandela House and Vilakazi where we had a delicious lunch. Highly recommended at all levels. A million thanks to Nkuli, he is very talented and coordinated my trip so well since Day 1, he is a real gem!
