Highly recommended tour! - An excellent and unique experience! Kuthso was a fantastic tour guide; he was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. We were picked up from our home, drove through the various areas of Soweto, visited Desmond Tutu and Mandela’s house and also walked with a guide through the informal settlements. Finally, we ended at the Hector Pieterson museum - a heartbreaking story that is worth learning about. We learnt a lot about life in the community and everyone was extremely welcoming. We felt safe at all times. Thank you again Kuthso!

Educational and interesting, with fantastic guide - We had a fantastic tour around Soweto with our guide Cpho. We had mixed feelings about taking a trip to Soweto because we did not want to engage in poverty tourism. But after doing some research we decided to go. We chose MoAfrica as the organizer because they gave part of the fee to a preschool. We were very lucky. Our guide Cpho was himself from Soweto and happily answered all our questions about everything. He was also very knowledgeable about South African history, Johannesburg and we learned a lot during the tour. Among other things, we learned that Soweto has many different areas, ranging from fancy areas with nice villas with expensive cars outside to townships. Our nice guide wanted us to learn about Soweto’s positive aspects and we really got a nice impression even though many live in real poverty. Interesting and educational stops at Mandela's house and Hector Pieterson's place. In addition, a short visit to a preschool with many wonderful young children. Thank you MoAfrica!

A very humbling experience. - All visitors to the Johannesburg area should go on this tour. It gives a great insight into what a large number of South Africans experience day to day. Our driver Neo was very informative about his home township and it was a real privilege to walk with Hope along her own street and hear her stories of life in Soweto. It was a very emotional and humbling visit.

Young short-left in Soweto - Khutso was amazing, he gave us a good experience of Soweto👌. He has heart and passion towards his work, it’s truly commendable. He is very articulate, friendly and hospitable-12/10🙂. The drive was also great, we were in the hands of a good driver👌. The food was amazing, kudos to the chef or cooks. I had a good young short-left experiencing Soweto in the eyes of a tourist😉.

Soweto tour - Despite being born and bred in the township, the tour presented a different perspective. Our tour guide, Khutso and driver Solomon from *Mo-Afrika Tours* were amazing. We had buffet lunch at Sakhumzi Restaurant and the food was delicious. The visit to Hector Pietersen musium was so touching but overall we really enjoyed ourselves. What an amazing experience.

Good option to get an overview but would tweak if I could - This tour was a good option to see Soweto, learn a lot of history, and have transportation provided for us. Our tour guide, Tshepo, was incredibly informative and shared a lot of extra details with us.
The tour was "half day" and we were supposed to be back by 2pm, but we did not leave until almost 9am and we did not get back until after 3pm, and that was only because we pushed to do so and cut out lunch and a museum stop. I would have rather left earlier in the morning to accommodate timing (it said 7am on booking). However we booked the tour to fit with airport timing so we did have to rush there after getting back.
I did not feel like the walk through Soweto was much, it was just a straight line to one daycare and back. I also did not like the stop at the daycare as it didn't feel right to bring a van of tourists in to look at the kids, have them sing us a song, and then leave. That wasn't advertised on the description of the tour and was just caught off guard.
Overall the history shared was interesting and the ability to have transportation to cover such a large area was very helpful.
