Arrival and Afternoon Game Drive

Pilanesberg National Park - The day tour of Pilanesberg Game Reserve kicks off with an early morning pickup from either Johannesburg or Pretoria.

Morning Game Drive:
Upon reaching Pilanesberg (around 9:00-9:15 AM), guests embark on a 2.5 to 3-hour game drive in a closed tour vehicle.

Lunch Break:
From 12:00 to 13:00, guests enjoy a light lunch at the Pilanesberg Centre, which offers views of a large waterhole. After lunch, guests head to Bakgatla Resort to check in and drop off their luggage.

Afternoon Game Drive:
In the afternoon, between 16:00 and 16:30, guests meet their guide for a 2.5 to 3-hour game drive in an open safari vehicle. The duration of the drive varies based on wildlife sightings.

Evening:
After the game drive, guests return to their resort to relax and freshen up before dinner.

Game Drives in the Pilanesberg Game Reserve

Pilanesberg National Park - Morning game drive

Rise early for hot beverages and rusks before departing for a 2½ to 3-hour sunrise game drive in an open safari vehicle. The exact duration of the game drive depends on wildlife sightings and the time spent at each.

Return to Bakgatla mid-morning for a late breakfast prepared by the guide. Relax in your tent and enjoy the resort facilities. Lunch is at your own expense at the onsite restaurant at the resort.

Afternoon game drive

The guide for the afternoon safari tour meets guests mid-afternoon at Bakgatla, between 16h00 and 16h30. Board an open safari vehicle for a 2½ to 3-hour game drive (again, duration depends on wildlife sightings).

After a delightful game drive, the guide returns guests to the resort. Freshen up and relax before dinner, which is prepared by the guide.

At about 11h00, depart the resort and venture into the bushveld in a closed tour vehicle for the final game drive in Pilanesberg. Stop mid-day for lunch and refreshments at Pilanesberg Centre (at your own expense) before leaving the game reserve for the return journey to Johannesburg.

Expect to arrive back in the city between 17h30 and 18h30. Exact timing depends on drop-off location and late-afternoon traffic.
