Highly recommended half day tour: feel, see, and step into the past and present - Very informative and educational experience. I am glad I didn't miss this opportunity to see important places of historical and cultural significance--Soweto, the Apartheid Museum, the only street in the world that was home to two Nobel Peace prize winners--all with the personable, entertaining, and informative guide Nahdi.

Glad we added a day in Johannesburg for this tour - We were planning to fly straight to Cape Town, but we decided to stay two nights in Johannesburg so that we could spend the 1/2 day tour in Soweto and the Apartheid Museum. We were four of six on our particular tour day; which was a last Saturday. We were picked up by Nathi (spelling) on time at 8:50 am at our airport hotel. We then went on to pick up another couple. This tour isn’t a private tour (which I was aware of), but that made it all the more enjoyable. We were able to spend the day with another couple and had a great time. We began the day heading to Soweto. We were provided so much information about the area as we traveled to Soweto and while in Soweto. There was time to take photos along the way and to stop at the Nelson Mandela House and a quick stop at the stadium. We also had photos around the Soweto area. Our final stop was at the Apartheid Museum. We had two hours to spend there. Someone could spend 3-4 hours there, but since we did schedule the 1/2 day tour (which won’t be 4 hours), we knew that our day would be limited at the Apartheid Museum. We were picked up at 8:50 am and dropped off at our hotel around 3:30 pm. Nathi was a bit more flexible with our schedule since there were just two families involved. It worked great for us. One advantage of a Saturday tour is the traffic is pretty much non-existent. We were able to get around all the areas very easily. The tour was handled with professionalism and it was super interesting. We are very happy that we decided to add the day to stay in Johannesburg. I also feel that the price was very reasonable for what we got out of our day. We were able to turn in our rental car two days early and stay at an airport hotel. That way we were able to be picked up and dropped off by Phillipians 4 Four - the tour company. I’m so glad we did this tour and used this tour company.

Great tour experience! - Our tour guide was great! He shared what time he would pick us up at our hotel and was prompt that morning. Throughout our drive to Soweto, he introduced himself and shared how he ended up in Johannesburg for work. He also shared lots of historical information about the city and pointed out various sites along the way. He took time at each stop to share detailed information while also taking pictures of the tour attendees. The time spent at the stops was a decent amount of time, and he allowed flexibility as we explored the street vendors and shopped. Vilakazi Street and Nelson Mandela’s house were fun to see. The Apartheid Museum was AMAZING! There is so much history and information there, you can likely spend an entire day looking through everything. The van/bus had bottled water for each person, so that was great. This is only a half-day tour, but a stop for food would be good, though there is a small coffee shop at the end of the Apartheid Museum to grab a snack. There were a total of 6 guests on this tour. Is as a couple and a family with two teenage sons. Great for all age ranges!

Personal tour of Soweto - We had a small group tour. We were picked up right outside of our hotel/apartment. Our guide Nahti was friendly and very knowledgeable about histories of Johannesburg and Soweto. We had a couple of hours on our own to see the Apartheid Museum (at our own pace). Then we dropped off at our hotel/apartment again. Thank you Nahti for taking care of us, and making us feel safe and welcomed.

Great insights into Johannesburg - Great tour with a small group (there were six of us) that gave us much information as well as time to do our own thing, especially at the apartheid museum. We only spent two hours there…that is not enough time to see everything so be prepared with what you want to soak in and what you want to hurry through. Some of the reviews were for the full day tour. The half day tour does not include the buffet lunch some people complained about in at least one of the reviews
