Great half day seeing the real Soweto! - We had an amazing half day in Soweto, seeing so much of this vibrant township by single speed bike. Our guide Themba was brilliant, keeping us informed every step of the way, both on the moving history of this part of South Africa, and also on other interesting facts, like the rivalry between the local football teams Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates. Go pirates! 🏴‍☠️ We felt completely safe during the whole tour and got some great photos and videos by bike. This was a much better overview of Soweto than just seeing Vilakazi St, which is very touristy.

Impressesive insights - Themba was our guide and he was amazing!!! He is very smart and patient and giving us as a family with young boys always a good and safe feeling. All people we met in the streets were just lovely and welcoming. These people are a real treasure. We also took the slum tour. Everybody should do this, it resets your perspective so fundamentally.

Getting to know Soweto on bikes - Trent was a really nice guide, would definitely recommend him! We were a bit late, but he was quite flexible and adaptable, took his time without any rush at all, and really tried to make a personalised experience for us based on our interests. He was open to answer any questions about the people and history of Soweto, which we really appreciated, and he seemed happy to show us around on bikes (which allows you to cover more ground than walking, but still much closer to the community than in a car). Trent is also very knowledgeable about the history facts. The koti sandwich was a great addition to the tour - 10/10

Outstanding bike tour of Soweto - Excellent guided tour with very friendly and knowledgeable guide (Temba). An opportunity to experience Soweto and learn about the people who live there. Good quality bikes, but a few up hill sections to make it over.

Great experience! - Soweto is huge and full of life. The visit was interesting and fun and the Guide, Tamba, was great at taking us around and telling us lots of curiosities about the history and population of the township. A special mention at lunch, really great!

Complete Soweto cycling tour - I had a lot of fun with Themba as my guide cycling through all parts of Soweto! Since it’s off season I was the only one on this tour, as apparently I cycle quickly we were back early but I felt like we really saw most aspects of the history and living in Soweto! Themba did still take the leftover time to explain me more and join to the Hector Pietersen museum, which was very nice. Overall a great afternoon! (Although I recommend doing the tour in the morning when coming in summer, it was end of winter and already quite warm for cycling up the hills) Note: the entrance fee to Nelson Mandela house has gone up and is now a bit steep for the size of this museum, you can however skip it and enjoy from outside only if you prefer. Same for the slum tour, which is hosted by a local guide if deciding to enter, this is donation based.
