South Africa is beautiful and has a lot to share with the world. - This tour was exceptional! Our guide Mo was knowledgeable, energetic, fun, and respectful. He made us feel comfortable and welcomed. Mo is passionate and highly engaged in his community which, in my opinion, amplified our experience.
On our was from our hotel in Johannesburg to Soweto Mo gave us an excellent introduction and overview of qpartheid and its debating impact on African people. Each stop along the tour was filled with history, culture, and understanding of the plight of the African people in Soweto.
The van was clean, in good condition with cool air conditioning. Mo provided water and stops along the way for bathroom breaks.
I highly recommend Mo and Stephenson Adventures.

Africa is more than a safari - The tour was very interesting especially if you only have a few days in town. Mo was very professional, invested in his topic and in making sure you get a taste of the ‘real’ Africa and some current day concerns.

Culture and History - The half day tour of Soweto with Stephenson Adventures was a highlight of my trip to Johannesburg. Our amazing guide, Tsholo, was both knowledgeable and friendly. At each stop, he turned us over to someone who was an expert on that location, and then collected us to take us to the next stop, in between times giving us the whole history of South Africa and its people. We were initially concerned about the ethics of "poverty tourism" but our trip through the shanty town was handled sensitively and proceeds benefit the local daycare center there. Vilakazi Street was lively and lovely, and visiting the home of Nelson and Winnie Mandela was truly moving. This is a great tour for anyone interested in international politics and history, and a good place to begin any trip through South Africa.
