A lovely day! - This was a great day In Roatán. We met up with our guide Phillip outside the Coxen Hole cruise port with no issues. My friend and I ended up being the only people on the tour that day, so it was a de facto private tour. In fact, we didn't see a single other tourist on the East Side the entire time (with the exception of a beach club we sailed past with a bunch of expat gringos playing volleyball.) Despite traveling by cruise ship I'm all about getting away from the crowds, so that was cool. He drove us through small communities and countryside, and told us a little about the local history and culture. Once we arrived at the dock in Jonesville, we got into Dewey's boat (apologies if I'm misspelling anyone's names!) Dewey was a friendly guy who's lived right there on the water his whole life, and told us he also has a tour company called Get Salty. He said he and Phillip exchange guests on vans and boats with each other all the time. He took us through the mangrove tunnels and around the coast, which was extremely scenic. It poured rain for about 15 minutes that morning, but my friend and I were prepared with ponchos and phone pouches so it was just part of the adventure. We then met up with Phillip again who drove us to the snorkeling launch area, where there were changing rooms and restrooms before we got on another larger boat. The snorkeling, which we did with our next guide Marlon, was awesome. There were lots of corals and colorful fish, including some beautiful schools, and even a sea snake. The water was neither cold nor warm, if you know what I mean. Then we met up with Phillip again for the drop off. He was nice enough to stop at a local farmacia for us on the way back, which was much cheaper than en los Estados Unidos. I'm happy I chose this tour for our time in Roatán. My only regret is that we didn't have all day to spend on and in the water!
