Founded in 1936, we have been offering traditional crafts for over 80 years. Calligraphy and painting with brush and ink provide a uniquely Japanese experience. Kakejiku embody over 1000 years of techniques refined for beauty and preservation, resulting in a masterpiece of wabi-sabi just for you.

You will choose between making an authentic kakejiku(hanging scroll) and simple magnetic tapestry.

Would you like to experience the seamless integration of Japanese culture by creating calligraphy or sumi-e paintings and turning them into a kakejiku (hanging scroll)? By using this traditional technique, you can display them for over 100 years. The hanging scroll will be a wonderful memory from your trip to Japan.

You will use real ink and brushes for calligraphy and sumi-e. You will also learn about the history and function of kakejiku. Experience the meticulous process of mounting paper on silk backing, and finely trimming it to match the scroll. Using traditional materials like washi paper, silk, and bamboo, you can create your own unique kakejiku with calligraphy and sumi-e.

great experience - It was my first experience making a kakejiku, but I really enjoyed it. It was deeply moving to see the calligraphy I created become a work of art. The host, Mr. Toda, was very kind and taught us a lot, and we had a great time. thank you very much.
