Covering an area of over 6,000 hectares, Ķemeri Great Bog is one of the largest bogs in Latvia. Renowned for its unique scenery and pristine raised bog habitat, it holds priority status as a habitat of European importance. Whether it’s the vibrant blooms of spring, the lush greenery of summer, the golden hues of autumn, or the serene tranquility of winter, Great Ķemeri Bog promises a mesmerizing experience year-round.
- Sloka Lake Walking Trail - Amazed by the unique and expansive raised bog landscape? You definitely will be. Now, it’s time to explore some more of the local natural wonders - unique Black Alder swamp forests. Enbak for an approximately 2-hour 5-kilometer hike on the Slokas Lake nature trail and witness some of the most amazing flooded forest landscapes that you can imagine. The trail leads through a mesmerizing wet forest crossing the flooded areas on a boardwalk and along the beautiful Sloka Lake. Be prepared for one-of-a-kind photos and Instagram shots here.
NOTE: Note that the swamp forest is fully flooded in high water season only the most impressive being in the spring months (April and May) and late autumn (end of September and October). Although not always flooded the place is gorgeous and very green at every time during the season (from April to October).

The second is another breathtaking hiking sport - the Slokas Lake nature trail. Explore unique wetland ecosystems here including the most impressive highlight - the unique flooded Black alder swamp forest, the amazing Sloka Lake, the mesmerizing Vēršupīte River, and mixed old pine and spruce forests.
