Land in Islamabad

Islamabad - Today we’ll welcome all guests arriving at Islamabad airport and head straight to the hotel. Anyone already in the city can meet us at the hotel. Today is ideal for resting and overcoming jet lag. The only task is to exchange currency if needed. Later, we will have a group briefing.

Scenic flight from Islamabad to Skardu

Skardu - In the morning, we will take a flight from Islamabad to Skardu, weather permitting. This flight offers breathtaking views of the Himalayas and Karakoram, including several majestic peaks like Nanga Parbat (8126 meters). If the weather does not allow for the flight, we will travel by coaster (mini-bus) to Skardu, with an overnight stay in Chilas (approximately 12 hours drive).

Shopping day in Skardu (2,230 meters)

Skardu - While we secure the group permit from the relevant authorities, you have the entire day to organize your equipment and backpacks. Skardu has small mountaineering shops where you can find mostly refurbished equipment. It is advisable to bring your equipment from home, but if you are missing anything, we will help you find it in the market.

Exhilarating jeep ride from Skardu to Jhola (3,150 meters) alongside Braldo river

Trek along the river from Jhola to Paiyu (3,400 meters)

Trek from Paiyu to Khubursae (3,570 meters) as Baltoro glacier starts

Trekking from Khubursae till UrduKas (4,130 metres)

Trekking on the glacier from Urdukus to Goro-II (4,250 metres)

Trekking from Goro-II to Concordia - The Throne Room of Mountains (4,600 metres)

K2 Mountain - Our final approach day, and our goal is in sight - Concordia! We continue up the rocky moraine as more and more of the big peaks come into view, culminating in the appearance of K2’s summit, rising more than 4,000m above the valley bottom. The views all around our campsite at Concordia are tremendous: K2, Broad Peak, Gasherbrum, Chogolisa and Sia Kangri are all prominent, as well as dozens of smaller peaks such as Marble Peak, Crystal Peak and Mitre Peak.

Optional day hike from Concordia for a K-2 Basecamp (5,000 metres)

K2 Mountain - We will leave for K-2 Basecamp early in the morning. At the basecamp, we get a chance to interact with the summit expeditions. K-2, locally known as Chagori, is one of the toughest mountains to climb. One out of four people die who attempt the summit. We will also visit the Art Gilkey Memorial and then return to Concordia.

Today is a long trekking day but the terrain is easy. The route follows the Asutin-Godwin glacier which directly hits the base of majestic K-2. You can also skip this hike and just relax at your camp at Concordia, enjoying the lovely views.

Rest day at Concordia with spectacular views

K2 Mountain - Today is a rest day to recharge for the most challenging phase of the trek. You can write, read, enjoy music, take photos, or simply breathe in the unbelievable scenery. If you like, you can also go for small hikes around to explore the Baltoro glacier, the world’s fastest moving glacier.

At this point, if there are guests who are ill or do not wish to continue, our group will be split; one party will pass through Gondogoro pass while the other will return to Jhola by the same route. They will rejoin the others in Skardu. Our guides, porters, and cooks will also be divided accordingly.

Ascend from Concordia to Ali Camp

Climb from Ali Camp to Gondogoro La (5,600 m) and descend to Khuspang (4,700 metres)

Trek from Khuspang to Shaiescho (3,440 metres)
