The Efteling is an amusement park and recreation complex in Kaatsheuvel, a village in the Dutch province of North Brabant. In addition to the amusement park, the entire World of Efteling includes a theater (Efteling Theater), two hotels (Efteling Hotel and Efteling Loonsche Land Hotel) and two holiday parks (Efteling Bosrijk and Efteling Loonsche Land).
Efteling is the largest amusement park in the Benelux in terms of visitor numbers and surface area. It is one of the most visited theme parks in Europe and in 2020, after finishing behind the French Disneyland Paris and the German Europa-Park, in 2020, it was even the most visited theme park in Europe.[6]

The Efteling, situated in Kaatsheuvel, a village in the Dutch province of North Brabant, is both a theme park and leisure complex. As the largest amusement park in the Benelux area, it leads in both visitor turnout and land coverage. Despite fierce competition from French Disneyland Paris and Germany’s Europa-Park, it claimed the title of Europe’s most-visited theme park in 2020.
Over the years, Efteling has earned several awards. Notable among these are the Pomme d’Or for the ‘best fun park in Europe’ in 1972 and the IAAPA Applause Award for the ‘number one amusement park in the world’ in 1992. The park, which initially only opened seasonally, has remained open all year since April 1, 2010.
Part of what makes the park special is its age - it’s one of the oldest operating theme parks in the world. The doors to Efteling’s nature park first opened on May 11, 1951, and a year later, on May 31, 1952, the Fairy Tale Forest was also unveiled.
