In 2018, Ishigaki Island was designated as Japan’s first International Dark Sky Place.
Compared to the main island of Okinawa, there is much less light pollution. In addition to the 84 constellations, you can see the Southern Cross and many shooting stars.

Different from other city-based stargazing trips that offer limited celestial views due to city lights, our excursion takes place in Kabira Bay. As the most renowned tourist hotspot and best site for stargazing, it’s a good distance away from the city center, roughly a 30-minute ride in each direction.
Our tour package includes complimentary, private transportation, enabling you to view a more spectacular array of stars than other trips. Plus, our photographer possesses a Starry Sky Sommelier® qualification, offering constellation insights in English while capturing your photos.

What does Starry Sky Sommelier® certification indicate?
Much like a wine sommelier who selects fine wines grounded in broad knowledge and experience, a “Star Sommelier” (a title accredited by Yamagata University) is an astronomical guide skilled in teaching you to appreciate stars and space.
