Relaxed see a lot, you can only recommend - The hotels were excellent, for Bromo and Ijen warm clothes are needed. We cannot praise the trip enough and especially Bhimo, he took care of us like family. <3 Communication via WhatsApp with the organizer and our driver was great. Our driver Bhimo was the BEST, always extremely helpful on time and the best driver in this crazy road traffic. We were picked up from Bhimo at our hotel in Yogjakarta on time and driven to our first temple Borobodur. There we had to change shoes and got very comfortable slippers with which we then climbed up the temple with a guide. We had enough time to take pictures and enjoy the view. The shoes were allowed to keep so you have a memory right away;-) . Afterwards we continued to Prambanan also very impressive here we walked over the terrain without a guide. To get to the exit you had to go through several corridors with souvenir shops. On the nearly 7 hours drive near the Bromo, we took a lunch break at a large rest stop where there was enough choice for lunch e.g. Subway, KFC or Asian options. Then we drove to the colorful village. Bhimo went to the village with us and explained some things to us and showed us, he also took wonderful photos of us. We could also see that Bhimo is a very experienced guide as he was warmly welcomed everywhere. We felt extremely comfortable traveling with Bhimo. He also accompanied us on the trip to the Bromo. he was always concerned for our well-being and that we also get good photos, because at sunrise of course a lot of people were on the summit. After the descent we stopped briefly by jeep to hike to the volcanic crater. Afterwards we went on to our last hotel which was also very clean and chic like the previous one. You could have dinner in both hotels wonderfully and we got both packed for our excursions once breakfast as we had to get up for the sunrises at night. The Ijen volcanic crater was also impressive. The ascent is already exhausting but the guide takes enough breaks so that you can breathe through. You also get a flashlight. All the guides we had contact with were extremely friendly, considerate and helpful. Just super nice people. Conclusion It is definitely worth making this trip.

Loved my experience in Indonesia and I can't wait to come back again! :) - After browsing through a lot of options for the Tumpak Sewu/Bromo/Ijen tour, I ended up deciding on this one since it's a longer tour that also covers Borobudur and Prambanan. My overall experience with my guide, Yovi, and the tour company, was positive, and I would not hesitate to book with them again. That being said, I do think there were some details that weren't clear in the descriptions and didn't match with my expectations. The tour starts in Yogyakarta instead of Surabaya. This is in the descriptions but a detail that I overlooked because most trips to Bromo/Ijen start in Surabaya. This tour option seemed to be pretty unique and I didn't find anything similar elsewhere. While it's a 5 day tour, the hotel on the first night (in Yogyakarta) isn't actually included. Again, I believe this is in the descriptions but I overlooked it & simply assumed that hotel would be covered for all the nights during the tour. I really like the fact that the tour company and my tour guide Yovi were very flexible in helping me adjust my itinerary. I had booked the tour to start on a Monday, but Borobudur and Prambana are closed on Mondays. Because of that, we modified my itinerary slightly to fit Borobudur on the day before and Prambana on the morning after. Yovi took great care of me and picked me up from the airport. I was a little nervous about the tour because I was traveling solo, but he really went above and beyond to help me (e.g. took me to get a phone SIM card) and to provide an amazing experience for me. Now, some clarifying details about the trip. My guide Yovi was my driver and provided helpful information for most questions I had. He spoke amazing English and I had no problem conversing with him, even on non-daily topics. I thought that a guide would be traveling with us, but actually, it did not turn out to be the case. At most of the attractions we had local guides, but not all of them were private (or 1-1). At Borobudur I was in a group tour organized by the temple. At Prambanan and Kampung Pelangi (rainbow village) I did not have a tour guide, but Yovi walked me around Kampung Pelangi (and to be honest there really wasn't that big of an attraction, so I think not having a guide here made sense). At Tumpak Sewu I had a private tour guide. At Bromo I had a private Jeep for the sunrise tour but no tour guide for the actual climbing of Mount Bromo (to the crater). And lastly, at Ijen, I had a group tour (this one happened to be small and only had 4 people that day including me). I had mostly positive experiences with all the tours, but this was just something that wasn't clear to me when I signed up for this trip. Even at the attractions where I did not a guide, Yovi did his best to make sure that I had a good experience and did not get lost. The only one that was difficult for me to navigate was Prambanan. I happened to have gone on a day when there were a lot of student groups doing field trips, so it was extremely crowded and I kept getting asked to get photos with them (which was super weird to me at first, but I later realized that they generally had friendly intentions). I think someone local accompanying me would've helped the experience, because 1) I felt so weird about everyone asking me for photos because I had no idea why and 2) I really wasn't able to explore freely with a crowd following behind me the entire time. I also think it would've helped if someone explained the details and the intricacies of the culture and history of the temples there. My local guide at Tumpak Sewu and Ijen were both amazing. There were some adjustments that we had to make to my itinerary, but the tour operator informed me ahead of time and I was okay with these changes. I do feel that they could have provided more information on what I needed to bring. I asked ahead of time if there was anything I needed to bring, but didn't really get much of an answer besides a windbreaker for hiking, and by the time I got that answer, I was already overseas. So this information didn't really help me. For Tumpak Sewu, I would highly recommend wearing a bathing suit underneath in case you decide to swim or go into the cave. I was wet head to toe after this and sitting in wet clothes really wasn't pleasant. I like that the tour company had scheduled me for very early tours in order to avoid the crowd and to make sure that I got the complete experience. We were one of the first groups to reach the Ijen blue fires as well as the waterfalls at Tumpak Sewu. This made such a difference! Getting up 1-2 hours earlier for me was 100% worth it. By the time we were finished with photos, the places were beginning to get very crowded. As we were climbing back up from the Ijen blue fires, there were so many people trying to get down in a rush (because you can only see the blue fires before daylight) and struggling. Lastly, I called Viator ahead of time to confirm where this trip ends, because it simply said "Bali" in the descriptions. They had told me "anywhere in Bali". This turned out to not be the case and the trip ends at the ferry port and you ride the ferry by yourself to Bali. If you have some other itinerary planned in Bali or need to get to the airport, you would need to arrange transportation yourself and it's actually a pretty long drive (around 4 hours). The accommodations were comfortable and pleasant. Also, Yovi had to do so much driving over the 5 days, especially early in the morning (there were days where we had to leave at 1am or 12pm), and I'm incredibly grateful for that. I was able to take naps in the car mostly and I can't imagine how he was able to do all of that. In regard to the itinerary itself, I think it really depends on what you want to see. I came for Mount Bromo and that was the one thing that I HAD TO do, but I ended up also doing Borobudur and Prambanan because I wasn't sure if and when I will have another opportunity for them. The rainbow village itself was not that exciting, but you probably wouldn't be going for the rainbow village anyway. Borobudur and Prambanan are very interesting from both a cultural and historical perspective if you have an interest in that, and for me it was okay that I am not necessarily religious. Yogyakarta itself is also a less "touristy" city (it's popular among domestic tourists but not international tourists) where you can experience more "real" Indonesian culture if that's something on your list. I ended up having a lot of fun at Tumpak Sewu and Ijen was such a beautiful surprise that exceeded all my expectations, and I would 100% say that Tumpak Sewu/Bromo/Ijen are worth going. The package is a little pricey for one person, and I would recommend booking with more people if you want to bring down the cost.

Best Java Tour!! - This tour is fantastic! After traveling from Jakarta, we plan to explore other parts of Java and end it in Bali. The tour package offered by Journeast Indonesia is exactly what we were looking for. We intend to visit Borobudur and Prambanan temples as they are popular destinations in Yogyakarta. After that, we visited the most beautiful waterfall we have ever seen. Watching the sunrise at Mount Bromo was the best; at the peak of Mount Bromo, we truly felt connected to Mother Earth. The sound of the Earth from inside the Bromo crater was truly amazing. Additionally, this tour will also take you to see one of the two places in the world where you can witness natural blue flames, which is at Ijen crater. The journey became easy because our guide Indra took care of our ferry tickets to Bali. It was a very memorable journey. All the facilities provided by Indra and the travel provider were exceptional. The hotels chosen were the best in their respective locations. Indra had an in-depth knowledge of the local details, and he could explain and answer any questions we had about the culture and nature. We were very fortunate to have Indra as our guide during the 5-day tour. All included in this tour package except meals (breakfast included) and your peersonal expenses, superb!! We highly recommend this tour. It's great value for money with what we received!

A beautiful trip through Java - We were lucky and there were only two of us, so we had a private tour. Jakarta wasn't that nice for us, and the guide didn't speak English that well either. But he tried very hard. Then we took the train to Jogjakarta. Unfortunately, the train tickets were already booked out and we had to leave very early. The hotel in Jakarta was OK, but noisy. Indra picked us up at the train station and drove us around for the next few days. We both saw large temple complexes in Jogjakarta. That was very nice. The two trips to the volcanoes were also great. Then we were driven to the ferry and picked up by a driver in Bali. This then took us to our hotel in Ubud. Unfortunately, there was no air conditioning. But we can recommend the trip.
