- Varlaam Monastery - The Holy Monastery of Varlaam ranks as the second largest monastery in Meteora. Situated near the Great Meteoron Monastery, it was established in the mid-14th century by a monk named Varlaam.
The chapel was completed with decorations in 1548. The stunning frescoes in the chapel of All Saints were created by the renowned 16th-century hagiographer Franco Catalano. The monastery has preserved the tower with the ancient pulley system, where visitors can view the net used by the first monks to transport people and supplies.
Visitors can also observe a large 16th-century oak barrel that was used for water storage over the centuries. The Varlaam Monastery has recently opened a new museum, where visitors can appreciate the exquisite religious painted icons, mostly from the Renaissance period, and the precious holy vestments of priests from the Byzantine era.
- Agios Stefanos - The Holy Monastery of St. Stephen is one of the most accessible monasteries in Meteora, situated on a lower rock and connected by a stone bridge. Founded in the 14th century, it offers breathtaking views of the surrounding cliffs and a tranquil atmosphere. Inside, there is a beautiful church adorned with frescoes and icons, along with a collection of holy relics. The monastery’s peaceful setting makes it an ideal place to reflect and capture the stunning natural beauty of Meteora.
- Kastraki - Enjoy a traditional Greek lunch in Kastraki, located near the city of Kalampaka, before returning to Thessaloniki.
