Shichifukujin, also known as the Seven Gods of Fortune, are deities originating from India, China, and Japan. They are believed to bestow wealth and good fortune. When you visit the Shichifukujin, you can receive a Goshuin, which is a seal from a pilgrimage shrine or temple. Each shrine or temple office offers the opportunity to stamp a pilgrimage seal, often accompanied by calligraphy on a square paper-board. After visiting eight locations, you can obtain a special seal of blessing, symbolizing that your wishes may come true. This journey is said to bring good luck and happiness, along with spiritual experiences at each site.
Traveling on the Enoden, a charming, old-fashioned train, you can enjoy stunning views of the Sho-nan Ocean and Enoshima Island from the train windows. In some areas, the Enoden runs on the same roads as vehicles and passes close to private houses in downtown areas.
As a Japanese language teacher, I will share useful Japanese tips throughout the tour.
