Bikepacking Across Uganda - We started our bikepacking route in Fort Portal and continued across Uganda to finish in Kidepo Valley National Park. We followed the tour route provided by Red Dirt from Fort Portal to Lake Bunyonyi and then continued on the Uganda Cycling Trail to Kidepo. Both routes provided us with seemingly never-ending climbing, some hike-a-bike sections, water crossings, ferries and boat transfers and endless views of Uganda’s beauty. Watch out for Tse Tse flies in Karamoja region and take cover during the rains! We rode through countless villages and experienced firsthand the kindness, generosity, and hospitality Ugandans are so well known for. It was definitely the hardest biking we’ve ever encountered but also one of our most memorable trips so far. Red Dirt was incredibly helpful with the logistics for accommodations, route navigation and unexpected changes during the trip and it was fairly easy to get in contact with Red Dirt when needed both in Canada and Uganda. We definitely recommend experiencing Uganda by bike and contacting Red Dirt for their tours and routes.

Gone Dancing on a mountainbike through West Uganda - Red Dirt exceeded our expectations in a 12 day bike packing trip through West Uganda. A beautiful route on small dirt roads through villages, remote areas, through parks, along lakes between 1000 and 2500 m high. Beautiful nature, wildlife parks, cycling among zebras and elephants. And because of the altitude no great heat. We experienced it as next level gravel riding. The robust suspension e-mountain bikes Red Dirt supplied were not a luxury. The bike packing concept with luggage transport by boda boda worked perfectly. The transfers on larger trips by extraordinarily pleasant drivers/guides like Yusuf who told us many extras about life in Uganda Red Dirt was very accessible and solution-oriented both before and during the trip. Amazing bikepack trip with Red Dirt - We look back on 2 great weeks of bikepacking through Uganda courtesy of Red Dirt. Red Dirt has created a tailor-made cycling route for us, in which they listened carefully to our wishes. The contact with Robin prior to our holiday, while making our plans went very smoothly, we never had to wait long for response. During our bike ride Robin always responded directly to our questions and was always willing to think along. The bikes from Red Dirt are of good quality, we had wonderful overnight stays and driver Brian was a nice reliable driver who taught us a little extra about the country. We can recommend every cycling enthusiast to get to know Uganda by bike and engage Red Dirt.

Great bikepacking adventure with Red Dirt Uganda! - We went on a 6-day bike packing adventure with Red Dirt Uganda, which was customized to our wishes. RDU did an amazing job and prepared a terrific route of ~350 kilometers, with amazing guesthouses and good gravel bikes! Their service - in person and digitally - is really good. If you need something or if something is missing, they are very accessible! They also very eager to become even better - asking for feedback a lot and take it to heart. 10/10 would recommend!

If you're looking for a bit of an adventure without having to travel far - Cool way to spend the weekend! When a friend visited from Cape Town he wanted to do a tour within Kampala. Red Dirt was recommended to him. We met our guide at 8 am for the short boat ride across Lake Victoria from Ggaba to Bole / Mukono. He organised the boat rides, kept us safe and ordered the all-important rolex. Take your bike - or Red Dirt can lend you one - for a 20+ km bike ride. I loved the stretch of village trails. You would never think that you are so close to Kampala. If you're looking for a bit of an adventure without having to travel far, I recommend this half day tour. It's a great way to unwind and an ideal way to get a glimpse of rural Ugandan life. I came back feeling super relaxed... (and dusty and sweaty 😆) Alternatively, if you have your own bike, you can take part in their sister company Bike Shop Uganda's free Sunday bike rides.
