The Journey to Murchison Falls

As the first rays of dawn broke over Kampala, I found myself eagerly anticipating the adventure that lay ahead. My guide, Gorge, arrived promptly at 6:30 am, and we set off on our journey northward. The drive was a tapestry of vibrant villages and lush countryside, each scene more captivating than the last. As a wildlife photographer and conservation enthusiast, I was particularly intrigued by the agricultural practices and the rich biodiversity that Uganda has to offer.

The sight of a leopard, elusive and majestic, was a rare treat that left me in awe. As the sun dipped below the horizon, we retreated to the Heritage Safari Lodge, where traditional Ugandan huts offered a cozy respite. The lodge, nestled amidst nature, provided a perfect blend of comfort and authenticity, with mosquito nets and warm showers adding to the experience.

Morning Magic and Farewell

The following morning, we set out for another safari, this time near the Lake Victoria area. The early hours are a magical time in the wild, and the landscape was teeming with life. Baboons and monkeys entertained us with their antics, while shy warthogs peeked from the underbrush. The lake flies, though present, were harmless and did little to detract from the experience.

Gorge’s passion for wildlife and his genuine warmth made the tour an unforgettable experience. His connections and knowledge of the park were evident in every encounter, and his company was a joy throughout the journey. As we made our way back to Kampala, I reflected on the adventure, grateful for the opportunity to witness such natural splendor and to engage with the local communities in a meaningful way.
