Explore up-town Kampala attractions such as: The Independence Monument, Mutesa II Monument, World War II Monument, the Parliamentary Building, Bank of Uganda (established in 1966), Uganda National Cultural Centre (since December 1959), and Kampala Capital City Authority (headquarters). Make a stop at Nakasero Market, which was established in 1895, initially at Lubiri and later moved to its current city center location in 1905. Enjoy the sights of Hindu temples like Shree Swaminarayan Mandir and other cultural landmarks. -
Kabaka’s Palace - Continue to the Buganda Kingdom and visit the Kabaka’s (king’s) Palace. Discover Idd Amin’s Armory, a historical machine gun, the palace pictorial, and explore Buganda’s rich history with a drive past Kabaka’s Lake. The Buganda trail includes the Nantawetwa monument, built exclusively for the King and only opened when he travels from the palace to the Buganda Parliament. Gaddafi National Mosque - Drive through the 1980s-era Kampala and stop at Gadhafi Mosque, a gift to Uganda from the late Col. Muammar Gadhafi. Climb the tower (minaret) for a 360-degree view of the city’s famous 7 Hills, including Fort Lugard (established in 1800 by Capt. Fredrick Lugard) and Old Kampala Senior Secondary School (over 60 years old, where Rwanda’s President Kagame once studied).

Kasubi Tombs - Visit the Kasubi Tombs, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This spiritual site for the Baganda preserves traditional and cultural practices. It is a significant burial ground for the last four Kings of Buganda, making it a cultural center for the Royal family, where important rituals related to Buganda culture are conducted.

Makerere University - From Kasubi, take a sightseeing tour through Makerere University, Uganda’s largest and oldest academic institution (since 1922) and Africa’s third oldest university. At Makerere, see landmarks such as the Old University Library (established in 1949), the Main Administration Building (since 1941), and the Education monument.

Baha’i Temple - On the way to the Baha’i Temple, drive through Kalerwe Market, the second largest local market, where you can stop for photos or purchase fresh fruits. Approach Kikaya Hill to explore the Baha’i Temple and Baha’i Faith in Uganda. This is the only Baha’i temple in Africa, located northeast of Kampala. Enjoy access to the temple for a moment of meditation and take photos in the beautiful gardens.

Stop at the Uganda National Museum, East Africa’s first and oldest museum (inaugurated by the British government in 1908 and moved to its current site in 1954). This serves as a summary of our city tour and the rest of Uganda.
Your tour will temporarily conclude at the Baha’i Temple, then return to the hotel. Under normal circumstances, this tour concludes at the Uganda National Museum.
