  • Makerere University - We shall start our tour by walking through Makerere University as we head towards the famous Katanga Slum. Makerere University is Ugandas largest and the oldest institution of higher learning, first established as a technical school in 1922. Makerere University is the alma mater of many post-independence African leaders - **Katanga Slum** - Katanga Slum is one of the biggest slums in Uganda. It's an urban ‘slum’ situated on a flood plain between Makerere University (one of the biggest universities in East Africa) and Mulago Hospital (a significant government hospital in Kampala). Katanga is home to approximately 20,000 people, living in wood, mud and brick homes. People here are welcoming and always happy to see visitors. You will be able to interact with the locals and learn firsthand how they survive in these congested places. - **Bagala Craft** - The biggest Craft market in Uganda. It has various artisan shops selling items ranging from ebony wood items, handmade jewelry, Masai slipper, paintings, and many more. It's a one-stop solution for craft items and souvenirs for someone looking for unique items - **Independence Monument** - Learn about pre-independence Uganda and the Countrys road to independence up to where we are now.
  • Nakasero Market - See and buy some fresh Fruits and vegetables from one of the biggest markets in Kampala
  • Old Taxi Park - Observe a thousand commuter taxis assembled in one place looking for passengers. These taxis form the backbone of public transport. There is a hustle and bustle. No matter where you look, you can see the minibusses, drivers, and passengers everywhere. The Park is a hive of activity. The horn is honked every few seconds. At first glance, it seems almost impossible for travelers to find the right taxi bus that drives them to the desired destination, but they eventually get there.
  • Owino Market - This is the largest open-air market in Uganda. It was established in 1971 when Kampala City Council relocated 320 vendors from Nakasero Market. It has over 50,000 vendors. Owino Market is popularly known for its second-hand clothes, but you can find and buy everything from the market including groceries, home appliances, shoes, bags and so much more at quite cheap prices! It shouldn’t surprise you if you find yourself spending more time than you had planned while inside Owino Market – the diversity of the fare is very attractive, and once you are inside the market, it is quite hard to find your way out. But don’t worry, our professional guide got you covered.
  • Kabaka’s Palace - “Kabaka” means King. Here you will visit the palace of the biggest Kingdom in Uganda, The Buganda Kingdom. You will be delighted to learn about its beautiful culture.

Located in the Palace are the Idi Amin Torture chambers. It was built by the Israelites, initially as a place of armory. Idi Amin the president at the time turned it into a torture chamber.The torture chamber comprised of a dark tunnel with five cells. Which had an electric door at the entrance, separated by an electric pool of water in the corridors. so that whoever tried to escape from the room would be shocked by the electricity

Shuttle service - The service was great. We were picked up from the airport and dropped off at our final destination. When it was time to leave a few weeks later, we used Kitenji again to shuttle us to the airport. Always on time and the ride was comfortable!
