Cycling through Cannibis in Kampala - I highly recommend taking a mountain biking tour with Red Dirt in Uganda!
Shadrack was our cycling guide, and Brian was my driver. Shadrack communicated very well with me prior to my arrival into Entebbe. He also connected me with Brian, my driver, to transport me from Entebbe to the starting point in Kampala.
From the start point, we took a 15-min ferry over to a secluded peninsula, which you would never think is 10 minutes away from the bustling city.
The mountain bikes provided are top notch and perform well. Shadrack is a very fit guy, but he will evaluate how you are handling the terrain and adjust his pace accordingly.
I was able to join the tour with another participant from the UK. It was fun to talk with someone throughout the ride.
We stopped a few times for Shadrack to explain some of the sights along the way, and we got to see a lot of school children during their recess as we rode through the school grounds. They were happy to see us.
We also stopped for a soft drink & a rolex about 2/3 of the way through the ride. The return trip to the ferry dock was very enjoyable and not too arduous. The ferry back to the start point was also relaxing.
Brian then drove me all the way out to Jinja once the bike tour had ended.
Again, I highly recommend booking a tour with Red Dirt in Uganda if you’re looking for an adventure.

Great Bike ride - After a nice boat Trip over the Victoria Lake, we arrived in the other side of Kampala in a remote area. From there we start a Bike trip of round about 20km. The bike ride ist a great experience. Michael my Guide Takes great Care of me and WE Take Breaks from time to time and enjoy the View and also Drink some water before WE move on. At half of the Trip WE Stop at a Rolex and beverage Shop. After finishing the Trip, we are being picked Up by the boat again.

Amazing single track at your own pace with Lake Victoria as your backdrop - An all round wonderful experience. The riding was exciting, the scenery beautiful and my guide, Michael, was gracious.
I booked the tour online and the processs was painless. Robin rapidly responded to my emails and questions and arrangements were thorough and clear. The bike I rode was in great condition: a Giant hardtail 29er with easily adjustable seat post. It rode very well. Michael was considerate and I never felt under pressure as we road through forest, farms and hamlets. The trails were AMAZING! Dirt road rapidly gives way to a multitude of single track paths which we linked together going up and down with beautiful view stops and a cooling breeze from the lake. We took a welcome break for some fresh rolex and a cold coke in a village before wending our way along new trails back to the boat and back to Entebbe.
I'm looking forward to returning with family for a multiday trail with Red Dirt!

Kumiwazuri in Uganda - 10 60+ ladies on the MTB in Uganda.
Downhill went better than uphill 😂 but Michael and James were very attentive and caring. They described what we could expect from the road ahead so we could anticipate.
Lunch in the local village was an unforgettable experience, because we were immediately surrounded by the children of the village.
Thank you Michael and James for this experience.

Mountain Biking on Lake Victoria “island.” - The mountain biking was a great workout! There are lots of large hills to navigate with dirt roads and mud and potholes and protruding rocks! The bikes are 10 speed and solid—I used the gears a lot. I loved seeing the area. It was interesting and eye opening because of how the people live and toil there. Shedrack, the guide, was amazing! He’s so nice, so patient, and speaks excellent English. It was an awesome excursion!!!

Guide Shadrack is knowledgeable about culture and nature. Has interesting stories to tell. Very friendly and good cycling partner. Would definitely recommend to try this out!

Spectacular experience - I always find it difficult selecting and organizing a tour from far away, but from the first email, Francis and his team made it so easy. We were promptly picked up from our air b n b and brought to the take off point. The bikes were high end and in great shape. One of my friends on our tour chose the ebike, which was perfect for what was a pretty challenging 70 km round trip to the falls (James even brought along a spare battery for her). Cycling through the villages and tea plantations and seeing how people really live here provides what I think is an unmissable aspect of any visit to Africa. It was heartwarming to see the smiling happy kids run out to greet us (tip - bring along some candies to give to the kids along the way to make it easier to take their photos). James did stop along the route, as needed to pick up fresh bananas, and water for us. One of the (many) highlights of the trip was lunch. I've never heard of a rolex (not the watch version), but its now my go to lunch - YUM.
