Atakasumiyoshi Shrine - Ataka Sumiyoshi Shrine
Ataka Sumiyoshi Shrine is an ancient shrine said to have been founded in 782 AD. Among the treasures are valuable oshie (raised cloth pictures) and nishikie (woodblock prints in full color) paintings depicting scenes from “Kanjincho,” a well-known Kabuki play. The shrine is guided by a miko (shrine maiden). While listening to the miko’s guidance, think back to the scenery of olden times.
Ataka-no-Seki barrier
The tour will take a walk around “Ataka-no-Seki barrier,” which is well-known as the stage for the Noh play “Ataka” and the Kabuki play “Kanjincho. The tour will also include a visit to the Kanjincho Museum.
