Excellent tour of Kanazawa - Criselda provided us with an excellent tour of Kanazawa. She knew the history and got us around very efficiently on public transportation. We had an excellent local lunch at an udon noodle place. This tour was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan.

Just love Kanazawa - We had an absolutely amazing day with Megumi! She helped us cover so much ground, and guided us through the main sights of beautiful Kanazawa, which has quickly become one of my favourite places in Japan. We were also blessed with great weather and the chance to witness the city's main festival parade. Thanks a lot Meg!

A Wonderful Day in Kanazawa - As part of our cruise circumnavigating the islands of Japan, we had only one day to explore Kanazawa. To maximize our time we booked a full day private tour which we thoroughly enjoyed with our guide, Shoten. First of all we really appreciated how well he communicated with us via email early on to plan the day visiting historical and cultural sites. On short notice the cruise line changed our itinerary by one day, and thankfully, Shoten was available. He accommodated the schedule change, and we did most everything we had originally planned - Kenrokuen Castle & Gardens, Samurai & Geisha districts, lunch at a local family restaurant, and a gold leaf experience. We were transported back of the Edo period of Japan for the day. Thank, you, Shoten! That said, Kanazawa is worth much more time than one day.

Amazing Tour in Kanazawa - Our 8 hour walking tour of Kanazawa with our guide Jorge was fantastic. He took us to so many memorable places and gave us great information about them. One of the best parts of working with him is that he listens to what you want to do and see rather than dictating where you go.

A cold and rainy day in Kanazawa - our best tour - My wife and I booked an all day walking tour of Kanazawa two days after running the Tokyo marathon. Our legs were tired from running 42km two days earlier but had an amazing experience sightseeing in Kanazawa. Our tour guide Jorge was a wealth of information. It was cold and rained most of our tour, however, Jorge (born in Mexico City, lived 20+ years in Montreal) spoke perfect Japanese. What made this tour so special is that Jorge not only brought us to all of the popular destinations that are typical of Kanazawa but also to the off the beaten path destinations with hardly any tourists. Jorge is a history buff and the level of detail he provided came naturally to him. This was our first trip to Japan and we had many questions about life in Japan and in Kanazawa. Jorge was extremely knowledgeable about every topic and thoroughly answered all of our questions. I would highly recommend, in fact, I would specifically ask for Jorge the next time we are back in Kanazawa. By the end of the tour, Jorge showed us his favorite sushi restaurant, a small 10 seat counter restaurant, owned and operated by a husband and wife combination for over 40 years. Jorge made a cold and rainy day, one of the most memorable and magical days of our trip to Japan. Most tours end with a simple goodbye, however, Jorge followed up with us that evening on our sushi experience and made sure we made it back to our hotel after dinner. Jorge also provided us with some links and book recommendations in an email based on the questions we asked during our tour. We ran a full marathon on Sunday followed by a half marathon distance walk throughout Kanazawa on Tuesday. It was an amazing day in Kanazawa with an awesome tour guide. Thank you Jorge.

Full day of experiences in Kanazawa - Shoten mapped out a great itinerary for tour in Kanazawa. He listened to our interests and packed the day very nicely. We went to the Ninja Temple, Ninja Museum, Omichi Market, Oyama Shrine, Kanazawa Castle, Kenrokuen Garden, and ended in the Higashi Chaya District and gold leaf crafting experience. We were somewhat limited in our communication due to the language barrier on both sides. Also, please be aware that all admission fees, lunch as well as transportation for the day as well as for Shoten's travel to and from home is the responsibility of the client.

Lovely Kanazawa - It was a wonderful day in Kanazawa. Unfortunately our tour guide fell ill so we managed it ourselves. Guides are lovely as they can explain more. Our money was refunded promptly and a credit for a future trip was offered.
