This sacred site is of great significance to Buddhists as it houses the left canine tooth of Lord Buddha. The Temple of the Tooth Relic is also recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site in Sri Lanka.
  • Kandy Lake - Next, head to Kandy Lake, located near the Temple of the Tooth Relic. Known locally as “Kiri Muhuda,” this lake is perfect for a leisurely stroll and a few moments of relaxation. It is believed to have been constructed by King Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe in 1807.
  • Kandy View Point - After visiting Kandy Lake, proceed to Kandy View Point. This spot offers a panoramic view of Kandy City and is just a short distance from the lake. Kandy View Point is a must-visit on any Kandy tour itinerary.
  • Bahiravokanda Vihara Buddha Statue - Your next stop is Bahirawakanda Temple, home to a towering Buddha statue that stands 25 meters tall. Also known as “Sri Maha Bodhi Viharaya,” this statue can be climbed for another excellent vantage point to observe Kandy.
  • Kandy Market Hall - Following the viewpoint, visit Kandy Local Market, located in the city center. This market features two floors and an inner courtyard, where you can observe local vendors in action.
  • Kandy Gem Centre - The National Gem and Gemological Museum is your next destination. Here, you can learn about Sri Lankan archaeology and see rare minerals. This museum is a fantastic spot for those interested in learning new things.
  • Kadugannawa - According to the Kandy City Tour Itinerary, your next stop is a tea factory outside the city. Here, you will learn about the entire process of producing the renowned Ceylon tea. Tea is a major economic crop in Sri Lanka and significantly contributes to the country’s economy.
  • Royal Botanical Gardens - After the tea factory, visit the Peradeniya Botanical Garden, the largest in Sri Lanka, covering 147 hectares. This garden is home to nearly 4000 plant species and is a great place to relax. It is located 6 km from the city.
  • Kandy City Center - Depending on the time left after the cultural dance show, your final stop will be the City Shopping Complex. Here, you can enjoy a shopping experience and purchase souvenirs.
  • Kandy Lake Club - Cultural Dance Show - In the evening, attend the Kandy Cultural Dance Show organized by the Kandy Lake Club. This show features traditional dances, some of which are also performed at the Kandy Esala Perahera festival. You will have the opportunity to see these dances outside the festival.

Two Families, One Day in Kandy! - Our family vacation in Sri Lanka wouldn't have been the same without this incredible private tour in Kandy! With two families and four kids in tow, it was fantastic to have a spacious, air-conditioned van for a comfortable journey throughout the day. The tour itself was perfectly curated, offering a delightful mix of history, culture, and stunning natural beauty. We loved learning about the tea-making process at the Tea Factory, and the kids were mesmerized by the dazzling gems at the museum. The Royal Botanical Gardens were a breath of fresh air, with lush greenery and exotic plants providing a welcome respite. The highlight for all of us was definitely the majestic White Buddha statue overlooking Kandy Lake. The panoramic views from the vantage point were breathtaking, and we snapped some fantastic family photos there. To top it all off, the cultural dance show with fire dancing and fire walking was a thrilling and captivating finale to the day. A big thank you to our amazing driver for navigating us safely throughout Kandy. This private tour was truly a 5-star experience, and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone visiting Sri Lanka!

Highly recommended day tour 💯👍 - We (a group of 5 people) did the Kandy day tour and were really impressed. We were picked up at Kandy train station and taken to the hotel. We checked in quickly and off we went. The first stop was at the Herbal Garden, then to the botanical garden, for lunch, to the white Buddha and then to the Temple of the Tooth. We skipped the visit to the tea factory because we had a visit to a tea plantation on our agenda for one of the next days. I can highly recommend the tour, our driver was super nice and always explained what was planned next and whether we wanted to go. The entrance fees are paid separately.

Recommended!!! - We only came across Denesh by chance because we needed a driver from Kandy train station to our accommodation. He asked us what we had planned for the day and offered us a tour of Kandy. The price was quickly agreed and we set off straight away. He quickly took us to the hotel to check in and then we visited the Herbal Garden, Botanical Garden, White Buddha, Tooth Temple and Viewpoint. The van was comfortable and we felt safe at all times. We went to a beautifully located restaurant for lunch. It was a great day. Thank you! Tomorrow we're going to Sigeriya and Dambulla with his brother.

Day tour Kandy with Denesh - We were greeted very friendly and helpfully at the train station by Denesh, a day tour was discussed and planned. He was also able to offer a tour for the following day, which was very attractively priced. First we drove off to take our luggage to the hotel. Then we set off on a varied and eventful day trip through Kandy. White Buddha, Botanical Garden, Herbal Garden and Temple of the Tooth. Denesh also had a fantastic location ready for lunch. With a wonderful view of the river. Would book there again and again. And highly recommend it. Thank you 🙏

Exploring Kandy Day Tour - Such a memorable experience, had a wonderful day! Started with a trip to the herb & spice garden, a location we would not have visited had it not been for this tour. Learnt about traditional medicines & could purchase handmade products to support the local community. Next we went to the tea factory, which as a British national we loved and purchased lots of fresh tea! Following this a trip to the gem museum to learn about the history of gem mining in Sri Lanka, super interesting. Lunch at local restaurant HoneyPot which catered for Sri Lankan and English dishes, overlooking the river. Lastly we climbed the giant Buddha & visited the city viewpoint to take photos of Kandy. A truly fantastic day & driver, would recommend!

A brilliant tour to see many of the tourist sights in one day - A brilliant way to see many of the tourist sights in Kandy in one day. Our driver Supul was a lovely young man, English speaking and very knowledgeable. We drove through the town of Kandy, around the beautiful lake, visited The Temple of the Tooth, we climbed the big white Buddha for beautiful views over the Kingdom of Kandy. We toured the gem factory and got shown around the Pilimathalawa Tea Production factory with tea tasting afterwards. We also stopped for a traditional Sri Lankan buffet style lunch, which was delicious. A good price for a great day out. Special thanks to Supul our guide for the day. Tips for travelers: *You need to wear appropriate clothing for the temple (long trousers, shoulders covered) *You must remove you shoes as you enter the temple (lots of walking on pavements which can get hot) *Lots of stair climbing at White Buddha and at gem factory *You need to pay for entry at Temple, Buddha, and for lunch *The staff and workers you meet are lovely gentle people BUT they will try to sell you gems and tea at the end of your tours. We managed to decline a Sri Lanka sapphire but got stung for some rather overpriced tea (I’m sure it will be lovely)
