An excellent experience - A great fun way to learn about Sri Lanka cooking. We met Shyama at the market and spent half an hour walking round choosing the vegetables we wanted to cook. We were then taken by taxi to her house. After a refreshing cup of tea, we started cooking. Everyone had jobs to do, chopping, slicing, cooking. We made five vegetable curries, spinach, beetroot, aubergine, winged bean, pumpkin, and dahl and chicken. All were delicious, not too spicy. We then were shown how to make coconut extract. For pudding Shyama made pancakes filled with caremlised coconut. A perfect way to spend a morning.

An absolute must do when in Kandy - We first met at the local market where we were greeted by our host. She showed us around, explaining the different fruits an vegetables which we would cook later on. After that she arranged a Tuktuk transfer to her home where we were invited into her lovely outdoor kitchen of her home. Overall we cooked 10 different absolutely delicious dishes which were all explained to us in great detail. We were also shown how to make coconut milk or a traditional Sri Lankan pancake. We can absolutely recommend taking part in this cooking class. It has been a once in a lifetime experience!

Amazing food and amazing host - The whole experience was amazing - from start to finish. Shyama was extremely hospitable and friendly. My friend and I met Shyama at the market to select the vegetables for our meal. Shyama took the time to explain all the different vegetables. When we arrived at the kitchen, everything was explained clearly to us and we cooked several different dishes with the guidance of Shyama and her lovely neighbour. The food was really delicious and they made us a nice dessert to finish too! Would highly recommend this cooking course.

Awesome cooking class! - Had a really good day at this cooking class with my girlfriend. Shyama was great! She took us around the market and showed us all the ingredients we will be using and showed us vegetables and fruit we've never seen before. She had great knowledge to share with us! The cooking class itself was in a really nice setting just a short drive out of town, it had a nice intimate feel to it and everyone cooked together (there were others in the group). Shyama was very friendly and explained everything perfectly ! Thank you so much Shyama, would definitely recommend !!

Best cooking course in Kandy - The cooking class was fantastic from front to back! First you go to the original market in Kandy and learn a lot about different fruits and vegetables that you don’t usually know. You can choose which things you want to cook a curry with. Afterwards you drive a TukTuk to a village about 20min away and cook many different types of curry yourself. It's all explained wonderfully. There's nothing I'd change about this cooking class.

A delicious authentic Sri Lankan evening! - A truly authentic Sri Lankan cooking class with a knowledgeable, entertaining and helpful host. I recommend this class to anyone interested in Sri Lankan cuisine. A tour of the garden is included from which the ingredients are taken. I have told any travellers I meet to give this a go!

Unique cooking course - We, my daughter and I had a wonderful day today. We met with Shyama at the market and after shopping for fresh vegetables, fish, eggs and spices together, we took a tuktuk to her home. It's just outside and really idyllic. Cooking in the open clay kitchen amidst cooling trees was just fantastic. We were allowed to cook ourselves, under her guidance, and she explained everything to us regarding spices and cooking times. It was delicious. Highly recommended. A very nice woman/family and experience.

One-time cooking course - My mom and I had a wonderful cooking class with Shyama. With a lot of love she has built up her cooking school and loves it. The atmosphere is warm and relaxed. We met at local market and bought fish and vegetables together with Shyama. She lovingly introduced all vegetables and herbs. Then we went home by TukTuk amidst the greenery. In the open clay kitchen there was tea first then we went through all the spices and then we started cooking. We prepared 12 dishes. Shyama has been guiding us all the time and we were allowed to snort and cook ourselves at the gas stove, as well as at a fireplace. Just an amazing experience. The outdoor kitchen & in an absolute quiet idyll. I've done some cooking classes before but Shyama's cooking class is a highlight. We had an unforgettable time, Shyama does it with a lot of love and the food was unique. Danke ♥️🙏🏼

Authentic - My friend & I did the cooking class with the market visit and we had the most amazing experience! We met Shyama at the market entrance and she took us around, letting us choose the vegetables we liked the look of and buying them for us to cook. We also bought our protein and some oil and salt. It was lovely to interact with the market sellers and felt like a very authentic experience - something we wouldn’t have done on our own. We then got a tuktuk to Shyamas beautiful village, and had tea while the ladies prepared some bits before we started the class - we cooked several different curries, daal, and popadoms - we cooked all the produce we bought in the market. After 2 hours of cooking we at last sat down to eat and the food was absolutely incredible. Shyama and her family were such a lovely people and made us feel very welcome, and helped us arrange our taxi back to our hotel. Overall we’d highly recommend this class, it was such a unique experience, well thought out and organised. We learnt so much about Sri Lankan cooking and it was an evening we will never forget.
